heres my state law for window tint, when I went to the store to take a quick look at what they had i saw that they said 5, 15, 20, 30% not 70% so does that mean I would have to use 30%? Im a little confused

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

Percentage refers to the percent of light allowed to pass through the tint. In other words, 5% tint means only 5% of light can get through. 70% tint means 70% of light can pass. In other words, your state laws saw that you can basically black out the rear window but the sides and front have to be very light tint.

richee, i couldn't agree more. i wanted to do 35% all around but i figure i go just a tad darker for the rear windows. 30% isn't too much of a difference from 35% anyways. i didn't want to go too dark because here in mn, 50% is the limit which is basically no tint at all LOL! i'm going to tint my celica next month and 35% is what i'm going to tint mines.

Thanks, do you think 50% on the sides would look to obvious? I'm thinking id do 50 on sides and 20 on back

Depends. Where I live, cops don't have any real crime to fight so they pull you over for stupid things like window tint. But if cops there stay busy, you'll probably be fine. 50% isn't that dark at all. 70% is practically nonexistent.

I had 50% on my is300 when I first purchased it. The tint was basically non-existant. 50% will do no justice to your car. If anything do 35%.

70 is like putting a clear piece of plastic on your window, safe the effort and dont tint it all if you're only goingto do the legal tint.

Anyone know what the stock tint level offered by Toyota was? I'm pretty sure the windows I have now are stock tinted or either REALLY well done. (It's JDM though)

Dark as you want in the rear, meaning both sides rears, and rear windows, NO TINT ON D/S or P/S WINDOWS. As seen in the pic.

I believe that most factory tints are around 35%.

Question if your state law says you can go as dark as you want in the back and 70% on the sides what should I be looking for, 30% tint?

u should be looking at 70% tint which is basically nothing probablly clear film. the lower the number the darker the film
