@Luke: Rumors still have it powered by a 2.0L boxer putting out at most 200HP or the 2.5L FI boxer from the STI putting out 305HP.

I say we start a new site for it instead of extending 6gc but realistically Scionlife or the other Scion pages will have spaces for the car.

Here is my question. How will FT-86 in whatever form fit within context of this website. Are we going to extend our site to fit that new car or should we expect to see people who buy it leave 6gc for ft-86 forums?

It won't. This is a 6th Gen Celica website. The FT-86 is neither a Celica, nor a 6th Gen (and possibly not even Toyota).

It is impossible to predict what this car will have. Rumors have been flying around and so have high gas prices. In all probability 86 will arrive to us as a scion fr-s or something of that sort. If and when it arrives in 2012 ish it will probably come as 3 options. 180 combined hp hybrid for around 26K, low 190 horse power version for around 25K and a sport version 205hp (if they so chose) for 28K.

Subaru might come out with a 265hp version and call it impreza wrx ftr86 or something. They already have a ton of vehicles with a boxer engine so I am having a really hard time understanding why would they need anything else?!

If you remove the fender vents, and the lights in the front, I'll take it now.

Also, that mesh they use in the grill is crazy cool. that will NOT see production

But I'm kinda surprised that it reminds me of an RX-8.

And rumors have increased to include 1 more vehicle under ft-86 concept. Allegedly subaru, toyota, scion (aka toyota's ugly step brother) and now the lexus is will be based on that concept platform. All the more reason to jump off a cliff so we don't have to keep stressing about this silly mind game.

I like to look at things from a pessimistic perspective. That allows me to actually appreciate little things however insignificant they are. I found it through many years of misery that when you get your hopes up about something it all tends to end up royally pissing you off and exactly opposite of what you were hoping for.

The idea is cool, the design is horrible. Ugly.

There is really not much choice out there sir. Unless you are purchasing last gen corolla all of the cars are pointy, ligny, alien-like and overall unimpressive. Now that I drive a truck I actually have time to look around every once in a while and I have not yet seen a single car (outside of mercedes which I will never afford) that I actually like in terms of exterior. That is on cars made between 2003 and 2011. All of them are rather unimpressive. Some have a glimmer of hope until you walk around them and find something that makes you want to stab yourself.

Fact of the matter is that is YOUR opinion. Some ppl love it some ppl hate it.. that goes for everything and everyone. I'm not trying to start an argument either just stating facts. What you think is ugly 1000 ppl out there love. what i think is beautiful 1000 ppl out there hate. That's just how it is. Different makers have different designs for a reason.

Have to agree with the first part of your statement, but I don't think it looks like the Hyundai. The Hyundai has Lexus type lines and it's fairly simple, not overdone. BTW I bought one mainly for my wife's transportation, check out gencoupe.com and see what the silly little 2.0t will put down with just a $650 reflash. (car is impressive for the price tag).

i was actually referring to the old coupe. genesis is ok and has nice properties smile.gif
this is what im talking about
http://www.automobilesdesign-review.info/i...coupe%20(3).jpg
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...up%C3%A9_J2.JPG

there are no real similarities, but somehow the new concept brings out the ugliness of the old hyundai. ft86II still looks good, but if u compare it to the first concept or gsports edition, then no, i dont like it. but i definitely dont see myself among the best selling audience, so toyota does the right job, because more people like the 2nd concept.

there is only a 1st gen genesis coupe,
The other car was the tiburon, which doesn't share the lines, or pretty much anything else, but each to his own.
