my starter does not operate at all, no clic or nothing
- i change it and put it back my old one who worked 100% good before my swap - nothing so i tried to connect positive from tranny direct on positive battery fully loaded aND jump one cable from there to selenoide on the tranny ..... and a small spark goes and no sound from the starter , after 1 or 2 seconde, i notice my wire begin to weld to the selenoide cable .... what the heck ? i mean, its not my wiring or something, the starter is good, i have all the juice i need, so nothing but when i unplug the cable to selenoide switch ther eis resistance, the wire grip together lol any idea ? Positive on tranny???
You need a positive lead directly to the starter. The starter grounds itself through the tranny, so make sure there is a good ground lead onto the tranny -------------------- JDM ST205

my starter does not operate at all, no clic or nothing my starter is ran off of a switch. the hot side of the starter i cut the cable ran it inside to a switch, then ran a hot cable from the battery to the switch. it works like a dream and looks cool now, when i work on other people's cars and i want to bypass the problem what i do is the hot side of the starter, i take a cable and run it in the ignition. i get a test light and find the wire that only has power when the key is turned tap in to that wire and and your done. thats how i bypass when i have a problem - i change it and put it back my old one who worked 100% good before my swap - nothing so i tried to connect positive from tranny direct on positive battery fully loaded aND jump one cable from there to selenoide on the tranny ..... and a small spark goes and no sound from the starter , after 1 or 2 seconde, i notice my wire begin to weld to the selenoide cable .... what the heck ? i mean, its not my wiring or something, the starter is good, i have all the juice i need, so nothing but when i unplug the cable to selenoide switch ther eis resistance, the wire grip together lol any idea ? |

If you've jumped power straight to the starter and it has started to melt the wire...
a- you've shorted your jumper to ground somewhere before going through any resistance. b- the starter is seized/has a short to ground internally. c- your motor, or an accesory on the drive belt is seized (alt, ps, ac, etc). (not likely to be an accessory, but I have seen it happend on a few chevs in the past so I wont rule it out entirely) |
