Hey guys,

2nd time now that the center arm rest has broken frown.gif Stupid people get in the car and lean on it to get comfortable and it snaps.

It's got a small crack down the middle, I was thinking of putting some kind of thick glue on the back of it and letting it set for a week or so??

And then there are the 2 lugs at the back that it opens on. I figure the only way to really fix them it to somehow re-make them out of metal?

Any thoughts for a permanent fix? I'm thinking this must be fairly common on our cars, so someone must have got a good fix already?

Cheers

if i can remember correctly the center armrest plastic is PolyPropelyne and its very hard to find a glue to adhere to the plastic as it resists most chemicals best thing to do would be get a low wattage soldering iron and find some scrap peices of polypropelyne (all celi parts have the type of plastic printed on them such as >PP<) and plastic weld it together and recover armrest.....or tell people you ride around DONT F%$# UP MY CAR!

Yeah, this is a pain, they aren't very strong are they! Mine has a crease down the middle. I swear I have seen mods where people have put leather around them.....

you can wrap center arm rest with leather or any material you like mine i just took it apart and recovered it with vinyl and used contact cement on edges (mine didnt look bad so i didnt need to cover up dents and tears) but if yours is horrible condition rip all the old crap off scrape off all the foam clean it up nice and good and add a nice new layer of foam(can make it thicker for more comfort) then use some headliner adhesive spray and stretch around armrest....i think there is some threads around on how to do it good luck!...hardest peice in interior to cover with material is center door card if you have all vinyl doors....fabric you have a pattern to use...
