Hey guys, so have a list of questions for you guys to see how good your mechanical skills are...
Just finished st205 swap into my 94 GT, this thing rocks! But for some reason around 4300rpm and up there is a strange hesitation, it feels like it should have so much more then what it has, ( PS. Already installed new plugs, wires are mint, new cap n rotor, as well as new coil, fuel filter, and walbro f pump, As well I am getting back firing happening, was told my timing is out because of the back firing..is this true? If so could someone tell me the degrees the timing is supposed to be on a 205 engine, Thanx for all your guys help...don know what I would do without this place..... PS safe celicaing |

check spark wires, either damaged or might have just come off the plugs as in my case one of the wire wasnt secured enough on the sparkplug..

Tweak did all that stuff, he knew what I was doing for a intercooler set-up, and did the electrical to make the ECU think everything is fine...seems to have worked to, cause I definitely don't have a problem with boost...way to much actually, like try 20lbs! Will be testing actuator today to see it it's vacuum or mechanical. |

I have checked the wires with a multimeter, and they checked out great..with no rips or tears in the boots or line itself....good call about a wire popping off though, I will definitely check that, at least worth a try..thanx man |

The timing is set at 10 degrees. You can find Hash marks and even degree'd numbers on the plastic covering right behind the crank pully. Also, when you replced your distributor cap and wires, did you take the distributer completly out of the cylinder head?

Correct, I did, but I marked it, and when I went to put it back in, I lined it up with my scribe marks, and it slid in like butter, then just tighten up the bolts...I think I did it right? No fighting with it anyway....does back firing indicate that your timing is out?? |

generally timing will cause a backfire, with a swap like yours though there are many other factors at play here

my car started backfiring when the distributor wire was throwing sparks towards anything metal near it.

You need to figure out why its hitting that much and turn the boost down. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
