Hey guys, i recently got a GT4 front end but the hood came badly dented. Is it worth fixing or should i just get another hood?

What do you guys think? its really bad. I am fighting with the shipping company right now to claim the damages.

That's pretty bad if the insert pieces don't even sit flush...

thats clearly shipping damage....you can tell something was set on it and dragged across....unless the supplier sent it that way but if you have pics of it before shipment that should help your issue alittle....good luck and id just get another hood aluminum is a big pain to get dents out of from what i read....

Perhaps it was a the weight of a body landing on the hood then rolled onto the windscreen.

did the front windshield come damage by any chance?

all jokes aside I think this is time for a new hood.

there's plenty to be had for about $400 with shipping.

Same thing happened to me I bought my set from "Everspring-Sports" on ebay I paid a premium price for it too the seller was too cheap to properly package the items I didn't know who to blame the shipper or seller all I know is that I won't ever buy from him again I have 2 giant paper weight sitting in my garage now welcome to the club.

You shouldn't have any troubles finding it locally, but I would definately go after the shipping company & then find a new hood. You'll never get the "wrinkles' out properly.

Pshhh fix it!
Spend a week on it and see how it goes, then source another hood if you cant get it the way you want. Honestly would only cost you maybe $50 in material and your time. You'll have to prep another hood regardless.

Take the heat shield off first, then pop all the vents off.

Flip the hood over and with a rubber mallet try and gently punch out the dents from the bottom. Get it as smooth as you can I guess...

the problem with aluminum is that is expands easily, so those dents you see, they are strechted, and when you try to pop them back, they'll strech a little more, and you'll find yourself in a battle hitting both side without much improvement.

Aluminum parts once heavily dented are replaced instead of repair, but if repair is done / attempted, it better be at hands of someone who knows exactly what is doing.

aluminum requires a dedicated process to fix properly.
with all the streching of the metal on that hood, you'll never get it back 100%. itll always look warped once installed on the car. (if you could even get it to sit properly after repair)

Careful heating with a torch can be used to shrink the metal back into shape a little...but that might be beyond repair.
