Hi, I have never welded before. I am about to buy a new welder. Would I be better off learning with an arc welder, or a flux wire welder? I am not looking for what's good for what use. I just want to learn to weld.

sign up for a community college course, they will teach you and then you can decide what welder to get.
just buying a welder with no purpose achieves nothing. u have to know what u want to do. IMO start mig with flux core. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL

What would be the best welder for exhaust, roll cages, and body; or does it take a different type of welder for each?

Mig welder with 75 25 argon mix gas. That's all I ever needed for All my car projects. U don't need a college course ( ya it would help but u don't need it) just get someone who welds good (if u know anyone) to give u few pointers then just practice till u feel u got it. It's not hard just need some steady hands and alot of scrap metal to practice. if u are buying new welder there is a video in most kits that will give u all the basic info u need.
