i was reading this article from another web site that there might not be a celica in 2005...there might not even be a mr-s...rumor has it that the celica might be replace by a scion tc coming out in late 2004.... "C" standing for coupe...toyota is also supposed to have the tc released with a full glass roof along the lines of the CCX concept car....but if they do decide to keep the celica in 2005...it would be a redisigned one...below are the pictures of the possible redesigen celica...and the scion tc
possible 2005 celica scion tc On the plus side, the complete lack of a sporty car altogether may mean that Toyota will fill it with a new Supra? This post has been edited by soldier4life: Jan 29, 2004 - 12:14 AM |

it means i found a button, thought it was funny and just applies to the ammount of new threads we get on these topics per week. nothing personal... maybe its our fault, we should probably make a sticky of rumors, fact or fiction, on the current toyota developments and possable releases.... oh well.... dont take it personally... its just toyota keeps saying one thing, but the media and press is trying to make it seem like theres things coming and going, which toyota has never had a full press release on any of it... so theres nothing really substantial to go by. all toyota is saying is "we may do this, we may do that. there were talks of this, we have concepts of that" nothing as far as "look forward to this at such and such a time" or "we are in the process of..." nothing substantial, just speculation. its been ongoing for atleast 2 years... there is even a MKV Supra message board that was created about 1 1/2 years ago... poor folks, guess they got their hopes up a bit too early.

Dont take it personally....not everyone can live and breathe these forums like others can. So old topics can pop up again by accident.
Anyway, i really do think that Toyota is going to rid Celica from its lineup. If the Scion tC does really well, achieving sales relative to the Celica, they'll probably discontinue the current generation Celica and call it quits. My guess would be that after discontinuing it, they would revive the Supra or a pure sports car thats more expensive that the Celica was, and let the Scion branch produce the tC to replace the Celica. But thats just how i see it happening....but who knows. Maybe the Celica will become Toyotas Supercar.... -------------------- 3rd gen ST205 3SGTE - Alive and boosting. |

Don't be upset because they have a totally different agenda... If they don't want to go the performance route, then that's their perogative. Buy another car that LOOKS FAST and IS FAST. It's just that simple. Like you said, don't buy a Toyota... but a Nissan or something to your liking... no need to gripe about it... My next car (not beater) is gonna be a G35 Sedan... it's luxurious, it has decent performance, convenient to fit 4 passengers, and it's made by a reputable manufacturer. I will stick with toyota becuase my next car will a hybrid (gas prices and all that) and they have a pretty good concept for a hybrid truck. I am going to keep my celica so I can put a 3S-GTE in it. The only other sports cat I can imagine owning is an RX8 they are just sexy.

Man...TOYOTA RULES
Integra_Killer TOYOTA STILL HAS THE GT4. The new GT4 looks ok for a 4 door wagon, but the performance is AMAZING. And then even if Toyota is swaying from the performance route at the moment, its just in AMERICA for the moment. If you think about it, Toyota is being smart. All of the companies are going hardcore on the PERFORMANCE ROUTE, and none are going to much into the economic and 100 option route. And the performance route has raised the prices on most cars making it harder to sell to consumers, like the NEW ACURA TL, I would really want it since I am a TL owner too, but they raised the price to 3000-4000 more because of the performance and already included options. Now Toyota is going to make a ton with developing more economic cars because gas prices are higher, oil is getting scarcer and we really need to find another way to source our cars for energy. Toyota is starting earlier than most in the econmic cars, and from what I think the performance and technology they got in those cars are extraordinary. Cars used to be 100, 110, 135hp, like the 6GC in america, now you can get more evironmental and economic cars with the same HP range. Soon enough toyota is going to have the fastest evironmental, economic car....HAHA, maybe using GRASS or SAND is the next thing they are developing. [B]ANYWAYS, IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, TOYOTA SEEMS TO BE HIDING THERE NEXT NEW PERFORMANCE THING WITH THROWING A LOT OF ENVIRONMENTALLY ECONOMIC CARS BECAUSE OF ALL THE PERFORMANCE COMPETETION. I DON'T DOUBT THAT TOYOTA HAS SOMETHING IN DEVELPMENT RIGHT NOW LIKE THE SUPRA....EVEN IF THE SUPRA IS RUMORED NOT TO COME OUT IN THE USA. |

Just me, but the TC looks hot. If the price is right (which I suppose it will be) I might consider the purchase of one.

The tC definately has potential:
Add an aftermarket front bumper, deeper skirts, lower it over bigger wheels . . . This post has been edited by neophile: Feb 20, 2004 - 8:03 PM -------------------- |

Nice chop. That actually doesn't look bad at all. If they keep the weight down under 2500, could be a zippy little number with a few power adders, too... |

Toyota does SUCK now..
the new gt-4 might be fast but it looks like donkey poo I dont care much for ugly wagons that are fast (ie audi rs6) Toyota needs to CAPITALIZE in the performance car market jsut like Nissan and Mazda are. Toyota is loosing alotta potential sales by not having a contender to the rx-8 and 350z. TOYOTA SUCKS NOW.. all they make are crappy stupid ugly slow economy cars that no one cares about. Sure theyre relaible and get good gas mileage but who firggin cares. They need a true sportscar again like the supra, something rwd, 2 doors and in upwards of 300hp STUPID TOYOTA is too caught up in making minivans and SUV'S and potential sports car buyers are quickly loosing intrest They better some out with the new supra sometime soon or ill switch to nissan or someting This post has been edited by integra_killer: Feb 3, 2004 - 9:52 AM |

Are you kidding me? Toyota losing potential sales? I know that they're doing pretty well in their luxury car lineup, as well as their SUV market. I know that hybrid cars is becoming a big thing and Toyota's next hybrid is going to be the Highlander. Although I with Toyota would focus on performance, that simply isn't on their agenda right now. There are other manufacturers that make GREAT performance cars. Now if performance is what you're after, go with one of those other manufacturers. No one is asking you to stick with Toyota.... |
