Hi guys!
The Celica what i have is 94 ST 1.8 7A-FE (body is in really good condition) and i was thinking of buying GT (cheap one) from Germany (taxfree) so i could take the engine and other parts from it into my ST. The question is: Does anyone know where is listed all the differences between ST and GT? or if someone knows what are the parts what needed to be taken off from GT to making ST "same".. that would be a big help for starting the project Thanks! I don't have any listing of the differences but the main things I know are:
Engine tranny suspention/steering wheels brakes In fact it's not the same car at all. Pretty much like comparing a Gt4 to the usdm Gt. |

You're better off getting a whole GT. It's a pain in the ass to do all the conversions necessary with an ST model.
Starting off: GT has: 4 Wheel ABS and disk breaks Different suspension Front strut stabilizer bar 5S-FE, 3S-FE, 3S-GE and a different tranny 15" Alloy rims Sunroof Usually comes in a 5 speed Side hugging bucket seats Larger exhaust You even have to make a new mount location for the 5S, 3S to fit. You'd be better off finding a GT shell and putting in a 3S-GTE or BEAMS engine -------------------- 1994 Toyota Celica GT-S 5S-FE 190k Miles. Project car 1992 Toyota Celica GT 5S-FE 170k Miles. The suspension isn't necessarily different. The biggest difference is the motor/tranny and motor mounts, and the GT typically (but not necessarily) came with more options- disc brakes all around, some came with a sports suspension package, 15" alloys, and that's basically about it. There's a huge difference between the ST/GT and GT4, and there's a big difference in suspension between the ST/GT and the SS-I/II/III.

Okay thanks for the information!
in my ST, i already have ABS and disc brakes all-around, sunroof, 5 speed manual.. but maybe in GT discs are larger? Anyway, sounds like a big project..so need to see if i do it at all.. If there would be just something like motor change and some little changes like gauge, exhaust, wiring harnesses... then i would continue.. I think the st is a better overall car than the gt; many of the same components, lighter, power on earlier, better mpg. Also faster around a tight track in some cases

I think the Euro ST must be different to the USDM because my ST has ABS and Discs all round sunroof and a 5 speed manual as well and so has every other Ive seen come to think of it

Hello, I am currently doing this swap in norway together with Iceman22 that has done it to his car. On the european model ST there arenīt that much u need to change, but u need a parts car!
Differences: Engine ECU and wiring loom Front brakes Exhaust is 2" on GT and 1,75 on ST Drive shafts Transmission Engine mounts, but they bolt in the same holes in the engine bay, so its really easy. Rear brakes are the same. My ST had ABS, and the UK GT st202 jap import did NOT have ABS. At the moment my cars are shells as im waiting for a new clutch to the 3SGE. The suspension WILL be different if you buy a SSIII. |

European Celicas did not get the 5SFE (ST204) -- they got the 3SGE (ST202) in equivalent models.
ST was the lower-end vehicle, but certainly could be provided with options. Dealer versions sometimes carried the STX badge to indicate they had all the bells and whistles except the engine. Regional preferences will lead to certain configurations, such as manual over automatic, being more popular in some areas. |

Other than that its not noticeable. |

GT is a better car than the ST, easier to buy one and spend the money improving an already better car!
