Just to keep you guys informed. I am going to start doing PURPLE and AMBER full dash kits soon to add to the selection of BLUE, WHITE, YELLOW, GREEN and RED.

I will also be adding side repeater/indicator led's to the selection and am about to start testing various brake light bulbs with a view to finding the best.

My intention is to provide an LED replacement for every bulb on the car bar the main headlights and front fogs. I like phillips blue vision bulbs for those by the way as I had HID's before and became a very hated man on the road as I burned everbody's eyes out lol.

I probably won't do led headlights as they are not legal in the UK at least and do not provide enough output to use for this purpose. You need to have the refector designed for the bulb and our cars are designed for normal old style incandescant bulbs. You can't really beat phillips bluevision in our cars imho.

Sorry mate!

Also I will be posting some better pics soon as I finally have a decent camera.

Here is one from the other night.

My kit arrived today thanks, but I'm having a couple of issues.

The climate control is okay, but doesn't seem as good as some of the pics in this thread. Some parts are really bright, but other parts really aren't. Both LEDs are working, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

But anyway, that's not so much a concern as my instrument cluster is. This isn't a complaint, because I know the lights have worked well for others, but I'm posting it here in the hope that Spree or anyone else can 'shed some light' on the issue.

I installed the two large LEDs in the back of the cluster (the kit came with three large bulbs, but my cluster only has two) and they are working fine, but the light doesn't come through the dials. This pic best shows what's going on, and I've removed the face/cover thing so you can see that the LEDs are definitely working:

As you can see, there is plenty of light but it just doesn't come through the dials. In this next pic I've put the cover back on, and as you can see the light is only showing through the odometer and a little through the needles, which a tiny bit of green light barely showing through the dials.

Any ideas on what's going on? I reinstalled the original bulbs and they shine through the dials easily.

Getting back to the number of LEDs supplied, I had three large ones but my cluster only takes two large ones, plus two or three small ones to light up the fuel and temperature gauges. My cluster is JDM so maybe that's the reason? I note that my Aussie dash takes three large bulbs.

I fitted the small LEDs provided for the climate control into the relevant positions in the cluster and they worked fine, but I had to take them back out to fit to the climate control, so now I'm short a couple of bulbs.

Here's a pic of the back of my cluster:

So... any ideas on why the LEDs won't shine through my dials?

Thanks. smile.gif

Wow, There is always the odd variant and I have seen one car with the speedo bulb setup that you have but that was a late ss2 and it did not have the problem with the dials.

Basically I think what is going on is that those dials obviously do not let much light through and a normal bulb is far more diffuse then an led so the issue is not highlighted. It's very odd and the only way that it looks like you are going to get led's to work with them is if you modified the dials or get replacements.

A guy called mook @ www.skewer.co.uk sells fantastic custom dials over here but you would need to make sure that there is nothing else blocking the light first..

The climate control just needs a bit of fiddling with the two bulbs to get a decent light spread.

I feel bad that you have one of these uber rare cars and I do say my kit fits all celica's so I will send you some extra bulbs to cover the climate control again and would you like a free courtesy light kit so that you can at least enjoy some kind of lighting upgrade whilst you decide what to do with the dials?

PM me mate. :-)

Yep, my dash is from a late SS-II as well. smile.gif

Bummer about them not working. I just checked out Skewer, not that keen on spending £90 on a new set of dials, although the Aussie dollar did hit a high against the pound today! I tell you what I did like on the Skewer site though, those WRC replica graphics kits. Very cool.

I'll PM you about the other stuff.

Cheers.

Mooks dials are the very best though mate and I myself will probably end up buying a set and those castrol graphics are just what my white st205 wrc needs.:-)

Also, my courtesy light kits are $39.99 delivered by themselves so I hope you realize that I am doing you a very good deal in compensation for your freak ss-II dash lol?

I like to keep my customers happy with top quality kit and the best advice. biggrin.gif

Tested the new Pink LED's tonight for the new pink kit's for those that way inclined!

And fitted some amber side repeater LED's to my clear repeaters. I have plenty of the amber LED side repeater bulbs in stock now and can ship them worldwide for $11.99. There are 4 SMD LED's on each bulb and they look fantastic. I do not sell the clear repeater lenses unfortunately!

Looks good. :-) Thanks for sharing these.

If you have any with the clock in the the shot too, that would be good for people to see.

I have had some interest in the pink kits now so here is a picture of the clock with the pink filter and the instruments in the background to show the color consistency.

The pink kits are also a couple of dollars more as the SMD's cost more to make. The kit price is $41.99 for pink.

And the main instruments themselves again.

Yeah I know. I would say its pink/purple too actually.

The led's themselves are supposed to be pink.

I kind of like it too.....what does this mean?

I posted your kit mate so I have done all I can do at my end.

Because I am a decent guy I will replace it for you if the postal service has lost it.

I am reluctant to do this too hastily though as no kit has got lost yet and some of them have taken up to a month to arrive.

I nearly sent one out before only for the other one to arrive with another guy on here.

I am going away for three weeks this week and if the kit has not arrived by the time I get back I will send you another out straight away. Today was my last day to work on these things so i apologise but it's the postal services fault, not mine! I will obviously be the one to lose out by sending you another and I would be tempted to send it via a more expensive recorded service.

Could anyone post a picture of the leds themselves? I would like to see what they look like from the kit to compare them with something I already bought.
