well i actually love this turbo haha im not dissapointed. reguardless i do not have a 1.8L engine! the super 60 does not work "better" on my 1.6L! there is alot of reasons why im going with this turbo, neways im taking it to a shop to rebuild the turbo.

well... i tore the turbo out tonight
- no shaft play
-compressor wheel looked great.
-couldnt get off the turbine wheel side ... wonder why
-no oil on the intake side... thats good.
-oil all over the exhaust side, **** :-/

final verdict... exhaust side seals blew...

the fix

-oil pressure orfice for -4an
-get the seals redone.
-get my oil pressure gauge working.
-get the wideband o2 option wire for EMU

so is this normal of too high pressure of oil for the exhaust side to blow?
im a little bummed, i was just about to send the car off to a tuner...

side question : whats the oil pressure in the 7afe engine?

get a restrictor so next time this doesn't happen wink.gif
for my 7afe its 60psi when cold and 10psi when hot give or take 5.

sweet aye? i got it working, no smoke just rediculously rich! haha. but im not driving it because i dont need to.
the bad: i have a boost related issue - wont boost beyond 5lbs. so im gonna take the turbo out and rearrange the wastegate a little bit and check all the piping. the 5 lbs makes me believe that when i put back the wastegate i didnt put it back right
also, i threw a code - 25 or 52.... either one it doesnt even matter, the 4afe doesnt have a knock sensor and i dont even have o2 sensors going TO the emc, because its a lean mixture signal for 25. so this leads me to believe that the emc is getting controlled by the greddy emanage and sending it lean signals because well, essentially leaning it out because w/o leaning it, its rediculously even richer than now.
and im believing i T'd into the wrong vacuum bit for my blow off valve, where do i put it?
other than that..... it works and i can drive it! woo!!

any updates? i had a few problems with my 4afte including turbo problems. my turbo was a rebuilt t25 and was assembled incorrectly. it has alot of resistance when you spin it. i mean i spin it with everything i have and i might get 3-4 revolutions of the impeller, but it still manages 11-12 unregulated psi and spools around 2500 rpms. it pulls... barelly spinning the cheap 18" soft tires at the end of first. but its still too slow. when i first set it up i only made 1-2 psi and they all turned out to be boost leaks.make sure your vacuum line to the rack is disconnected and your intake aint boosting your valve cover and so on. a boost leak tester is very valuable and will become you freind if its not already. so your emanage is running your car alright. i bought mine off ebay and destroyed it a year later.... ive been running a vortech fmu and i monitor my wideband closelly. hopefully ill have the money to order the new turbo and megasquirt tommorow i was hoping to have it today. stupid insurance people. but i cant decide between gt2871-gt2876-gt3076r.

Thanks, man. My compressor blades got broken, so now I need a new compressor wheel...and a turbo rebuild. Just noticed some major axial play. Radial play is within normal specs, but axial play is too great. My compressor is spitting oil out. Not bad for five years of restrictorless and filterless use on a Turbonetics turbo. laugh.gif I'm probably getting a Precision or a Garrett this week.

And the update on Blakout16's motor is that it is toast. A while after we got it installed his motor went belly up on a trip from eastern Washington back to Oregon. Last time I heard the Celica was parked in the yard and he is now driving a Cobalt LT.
