Check all the nuts that hold the intake-manifold. I've had exactly the same a while ago. Turned out to be a missing nut on the intake, the noise you hear is air.

Take a socket (i believe the nuts are size 12mm) with some extensions until you can reach the nuts. It's not easy to access them, the lower ones are best to do from underneath the car. You need patience for sure

Sounds like something metal vibrating at low rpms. Sound is annoying as all hell and i can understand why you would want to find out what it is...if i were you, i would go over anything i ever messed with before the sound started....if that brings you no results, then at least you have narrowed things down a bit.
Next think logically about what could of gone wrong to cause that noise...i mean it had to just happened right? Or has it been something you dealt with since you owned the car? Either way work from their AFTER you have checked over any and everything you have messed with before the noise started... -------------------- (\__/)

sounds like the noise i had when my original ct20b bent the shaft and the compressor wheel was scraping the housing, the whole turbo unit was throw away..
ended up being worn bearings finally giving out cuz the oil feed was carboned up -------------------- Mike W

check all air hoses, and every other piping that goes to the intake manifold, I'm almost certain its an airleak, the fact that it goes away when you hit the accelerator makes me think that, the air pressure changes when you press the gas causes the sound to go away, you can also use a plastic pipe to narrow down where the sound is coming from, the way your gonna do this is by, putting one end of the pipe to your ear and block off the other ear and move the other end of the hose around until you can hear the sound intensifying, it should put you directly ontop of the noise source and you can go on investigating from there.

Hi! Could this be my solution?
one of my injector sealing looked like this. other three was ok. itīs not easy to remove the intake manifold. so maybe i just replace those gasgets. what do you guys think? |

thats exactly what the problem is. replace all 4 of those gaskets while you have the manifold off

ok. i have been searchin where that noise is coming from. and i think it comes somewhere under the distributor.
there is some pipes and next i replace those. something that i noticed. when the motor is cold the noise is almos gone. but after couple minutes it jus get louder or if i touch the gas pedal. all help you can give will be worthless. |

that does sound metal on metal rotational contact. (like a bearing). Since I believe it is related to the compressor wheel and possible contact with housing or a bearing I would suggest this as a check...
When the engine is idling and making the noise, disconnect one of the couplers from the intercooler - effectively letting the turbo just blow to the atmosphere. If it stops, I would say it is turbo related. Do not do this check while revving the engine or in a dusty location. Do no drive the car like this as this is only a diagnostic check. -Terracar -------------------- '92 ST185, '88 ST165, '05 Galant LS, '08 Legacy
