Will do. How about we set a firm date and then I'll put it up?

Either I think works for me as well.

I'd say it's pretty much official at this point. August 27th, noon. I'll be bringing burgers, BEAMS, and the girlfriend. Chris, if I can fit them in the car, do you want me to bring the doors? I'm thinking one in the back seat, one in the trunk. And Tom, you better be there. I'm still debating between another BEAMS or a 3S-GTE. I really want to see Shig's car too. I still haven't gotten to see it.

The doors aren't a huge priority for me. If you want to bring them up, you can. If not, we can figure it out later.

Although, I am still interested in those seats if you're still willing to part with them.

I don't need them. I'll get full pictures of them when I get home. You want front and rear or just fronts?

Chris- you got it. The driver's seat has a couple of small tears in it and the rear seats are a little dry, but they're all yours.

Jordan- I have tried it. I just don't care for it. It feels so gutless until you get the lift going. I have to say, I haven't tried it with the 6 speed yet but the BEAMS pulls far harder than any of the 2ZZ's I've driven. The BEAMS produces 197 hp and 145 lb. ft. of torque. The 2ZZ is at 180 hp and 133 lb. ft. You can really feel the difference, despite the extra weight of the 6th gen and the cast iron block of the BEAMS vs. the aluminum block of the 2ZZ. The two motors are very closely related though. Several of the MR2 BEAMS guys are using a 2ZZ wiring harness and 2ZZ standalones.

try it with a 6spd, sadly I have auto frown.gif.

2ZZ takes to bolt ons and tuning pretty easy though, you going to get a cam-con for the beams?

I'm not putting the 2ZZ down by any means. Since you have an auto, you will probably agree with me when I say you just can't really keep it in lift. Yeah, you can shift on the steering wheel, but that beats the point of a good twisty road. You're still limited. So I cant say I've fully tested a 2ZZ, and definitely has pluses over the BEAMS. Like I said earlier, it has an aluminum block, not cast iron. It takes boost well. And there are actually bolt-ons available for it, unlike the BEAMS. I've read a little bit about camcons but it sounds way over my head. Those BEAMS guys speak a whole different language. They keep saying it's an easy way to get more power but after "easy" and "power," I don't understand a single thing they say. I think they're actually using a camcon for the 2ZZ though.

It's like a SAFC that can alter cam angle by intercepting the signal from the pcm and adding or subtracting from it. Actually, it's opposite a SAFC in that regard, well and the Cam-Con can also control AFR like a SAFC can. I'm thinking about getting one to play with at some point, but alter VVT too much and you'll throw a code for vvt malfunction.

I actually just read an interesting bit about a Camcon for a BEAMS.

http://www.mr2.com/forums/beams-owners-gro...ght-camcon.html

One of the first few posts there says that the BEAMS ECU, as well as the 2ZZ ECU, is smart enough to figure out what you've done after a little while and correct it. I know literally nothing about tuning to get more power and I know virtually nothing about SAFC's. It sounds to me like tuning VVT is a great way to make power though. That's one of the reasons I prefer Toyota's VVT-i to Honda's VTEC. VTEC uses a different set of lobes on the cam whereas VVT-i can actually control the timing of the cam, so you can tune it as opposed to just waiting for it to kick in. You should bring the Celica to the meet. Valve timing will have never changed so much at one single 6gc.net meet.
