Looking at a 95 liftback online, it's got the oe bbs wheels, no sunroof, black cloth interior and a manual trans, no engine pic or I'd know right off. Any way to tell without looking at the motor?

not necessarily. just because it has disc brake rears doesn't mean it's a GT. A LOT of people convert their rear drums to disc brakes.

I confirmed that it's a GT by the chassis code. Side note, I love your car, are those 5th gen mirrors?

but the chances of someone liking their car enough and knowing enough to change the rears to a disc should know if its a gt/st

Yeah, owner is oblivious to anything car related it seems. Another side note, your V6 swap has me drooling.

that doesnt always mean a bad thing..

some cases salvage may mean it was in a flood and water got inside, or a engine bay fire or any collision where the airbags went off causeing a lot of "damage" that is a simple bolt back in kinda thing.

my daily and project are both "salvage" my daily was in a front end collision that made the airbags go off slight misalignment of body panels have been a side effect

my project? the airbags went off. i cant find ANY other damage. and i tore that thing to the frame.

salvage title = good point in lowering the price wink.gif just make sure to check that...

the front end lines up

check the frame rails/fender aprons(where the upper fender bolts to) in the engine bay carefully. if it was in a serious front end collision u will be able to tell by these two parts

on the pass side try to lift the airbag cover. if you can they went off..

check all the windows for the TOYOTA markings. it may have been vandalized(broke all the glass/mess up the paint = totaled w/o any REAL damage)

water damage? if you can smell mold inside its was probably this. but other than that as long as the ecu wasnt damaged or got in the engine(if it runs ur safe)

I believe the GT has a beta/different looking wing compared the the ST as well? I have a ZR (an Aussie GT) that has no fog lamps? Were they optional or removed in its life time?

i believe its an optional equipment. my celi didn't come with it. no brackets, no switches and harness. so i assume the first owner didn't opt. to have it.

I'm looking to spend no more than 2500, seems fair price for a decent gt liftback

I only spent 2400 on mine. It's a 94 GT-S with 5 speed. (Guy didn't know it had the solid struts or he probably would have asked more.) Mine had only 148k miles when I bought it.

If you're only expecting to pay $2500 for one, make sure you check it out. Most that are that cheap need work. Mine needed all new gaskets, new filler neck, rust fixed, spark plug tubes re-sealed, tune up, new rad... so look at it carefully.
