i'm in the process of replacing the inner & outer tie rods, front end links, and ball joints to freshen up the steering & handling components and to fix a small steering issue with the driver side tie rods. i couldn't finish tonight since i need an inner tie rod removal socket which i'll be buying in the morning. there's no room for a wrench unless i drop the whole subframe.

Looked into buying an Optima Redtop to replace the battery the car came with; I can get it for $135 shipped. Good deal or no my friends?
Earlier in the week I hit 153,000 miles. Later this week I may install my 4-2-1 header. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

From what I understand, the Yellowtop is better for the Celi's purpose, powering a daily with accessories use. The Redtop I think is more for demanding start-up conditions, unless that's what you're looking for, as I'm not sure if NC's winter warrant such a thing. Anyway, that price is solid. I can get a Yello locally for $125. Good luck on the header, thought you already took a swing at it a few weeks ago. I could get the Yellowtop for $160 shipped if that's better for the Celica; I know temperatures can get down to the teens during winter at points here in NC so I want something that can handle that but also the hour or so the system will be on while I clean the inside of the car. If it weren't for the shipping I'd ask you to purchase one there and mail it to me. LOL And I was supposed to do the header a couple of weeks ago but quality time with the better half nixed that plan hence my attempt for this weekend. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

NEEDS MOAR LOWARR! yes... but important things first wheels and breaks. some time next year Ill get the lowering part done. that and I have to figure out how to not have the exhaust tap on the back... it already does, and lowering it would probably make it worse. |

Today, I took some before and after pictures.
Before: After: Painted the headlights and foglights black. It's a huge improvement over the chrome. The IS will be going to the body shop this week and it'll have a new JDM present when it gets back. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. the is300's A/C never worked since we bought it so last week, after a quick charge it worked great but quickly went out a few hours later. i think there was a leak somewhere. so recently, i did a poor man's version of an A/C seal, evac, vacuum, and recharge at home and the a/c has been working great for the past 3 days .
this morning, i finished replacing the inner & outer tie rods, ball joints, and end links on the celica. i could've finished in a day but it's been a bit too hot to work outside plus the inner tie rods were a bit different than oem and i couldn't get the inner boots to stop sliding so it required a bit of modifying. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Now it's time for some headlamp polish. It's like $20 at Pep Boys, etc and all you need is a drill. Works wonders. I don't think I'll have to do it with the Celica headlamps because they're glass, but the post face turns are plastic and they were pretty bad. Sanded/polished them, good as factory new. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

Tried that, clay bar works better. These headlights are just fubar'd and are there for no purpose other than filling holes until I buy the Altezza headlights.

Installed the header finally.
Enjoyed the sound of the open downpipe on my way home before I put the header on. Seriously considering an exhaust now. -------------------- Has no more Celicas
