Hey all,
I figured I'd introduce myself, and more importantly, the new (to us) car. Its a White 1998 Toyota Celica GT Convertible with 107k miles. I've been doing some research and forum searching, and it looks like this is an excellent forum to be a part of. Ultimately, I have some questions-- I'm not new to working on cars, nor convertibles, but I am certainly new to working on a Toyota-- I usually deal in VWs and occasionally Hondas and GM (mostly for friends). I've searched and found answers to a few of my problems already, but there are a couple that I feel would be worth mention in this thread. Besides, I dont want to be a complete troll . The car is for the wifey, and there are a few things I need to do before it is drivable on a daily basis. Biggest problem: The rear window on the convertible top blew in right before we bought the car. The previous owner went through an automated car wash and the drying blowers blew the rear window in I've been attempting to glue it in using 3M window weld as I saw some do on corvette forums. Also, it has the premium 8 speaker audio system and the front 8" woofers are blown, and the rear speakers are blown too. I'll have to find a solution to that. I suppose I'll have to do some searching for a decent 8" woofer. The rear passenger side quarter window seems to not seal properly. It angles toward the front of the car when it reaches its peak movement, which puts it at a weird angle that wont seal. Can this be adjusted? The driver's side front window seems to catch and fall about an inch when first putting it down. I'm assuming the regulator may need adjustment or replacement. Are the regulators between the coupes and convertibles the same? That would be awesome. The power antenna works, but grinds for a few seconds when it reaches the top of its movement. valve cover gasket leaks, and the Trans fluid is a bit brown, but not burnt. no biggie, hopefully. Anyone know where I can get my hands on a factory service manual? Pictures! |
