I'm talking about these JDM Tails:
http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t13/mkernz22/DSC03936.jpg The bulbs are different than the types that you have. The brakes are 7443 and the reverse and turns are 7440. |

I think ^^^ UK uses different bulb type size names...but 7443 and 7440 are the ones we in the USA use to interchange with what the japanese used on their lights. I don't know if JDM original tail lamp harness is the same as the UK's.

Much love to the service you are providing. I already have myself a set of bright-white LEDS for my gauge-cluster however I wanted to know if you do whites for the rest of the car. I'm at work and I can't seem to load the site up properly aside from the blue-lit pictures.

I don't know if JDM original tail lamp harness is the same as the UK's. The US sizes are the 1156 and 1157 (circular design), and the JDM ones are the 7440 and 7443 (wedge design). Oh yeah?!! :-D I actually have my 94' ST205 WRC JDM sitting outside and I assure you that the only wedge bulb on the rear of it is the 501 bulb used for the center brake light. As chacha mentioned. The UK uses different bulb names so you can get very confused if you start googling bulb types as I have also seen that wedge style bulb come up on there. If you have seen any gen 6 celica with a wedge type bulb in the rear clusters then I would love to see a picture as it would be a first for me! The JDM car uses 1157 for the brake lights (4 of them) 2 x 1156 for the reverse lights and a 501 wedge bulb for the center brake light. It also uses 2 x 1156 for the reversing lights. On my car I have the right one converted into a fog light for UK regulations. The UK Celica gen 6 differs from the JDM in that the two inner brake lights are used as fogs instead. There is a cool mod that you can do on a JDM car where it has the normal four brake lights when the fog light is off but the inner ones light up as fogs and stay on when you switch the fog light on. A very neat way of doing it but the legality of it is suspect as our MOT regulations technically forbid it but you can get away with it if the tester is lenient. How you guys can help me actually is by confirming that the US cars have the same setup as the UK? kinda late but here's my addition. guages turned out great! i love them. but the middle is not lit cuz i futzed up and probably didn't turn it the right direction. Hey Cheela, by the look of the picture, your middle bulb is not working at all! You need to remove it, turn it 180 degrees and refit. The center bulb also illuminates the center needle far better if it is removed from its base and fitted directly to the holder as described in the instructions. :-D -------------------- www.SpreeLED.com Facebook Youtube

Yes I do led bulbs in a range of colours for every bulb in the car bar the headlights as led's are useless for those! So do you want the rest of the dash, interior lights, license plate and sidelights in white? I can supply all that. J. -------------------- www.SpreeLED.com Facebook Youtube

These are probably the same as yours that only have 4 bulbs. (1156 & 1157)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-CELICA-...=item2eb7d7e626 These are the US ones that have 5 bulbs. (1156 & 1157 with the random small bulb on the end.) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/toyota-celi...=item43aa215a05 And I believe these are the later JDM ones: (all wedge bulbs) 7440 & 7443 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOYOTA-Celi...=item27bd0a616e These are the two different bulbs. 1156 & 1157: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/sto...Fspecs%2F67.htm 7440 & 7443: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/sto...2F744x-xHP3.htm |

As far as I can see that is the indicator bulb that is smaller and looks to be a 501 fitting. Can anybody verify this? As far as the late spec JDM clusters using wedge fittings. I still do not believe this to be the case. I used to have a set of late spec JDM clusters fitted to my car until I sold them and swapped back to the older style for a more authentic rally look. The fittings were exactly the same and the late spec JDM clusters fitted my car perfectly. It seems strange that toyota would make an identically fitting lamp cluster with identical bulb fittings but then have a wedge fitting instead of a bayonet fitting when they have been using the bayonet fitting for years on that generation of Celica. The gen 7 celica uses wedge fittings I know that but I have not personally seen any gen 6 with wedge bulbs as brake bulbs. I am always happy to be proved wrong though! -------------------- www.SpreeLED.com Facebook Youtube

I have been reading through your posts on here regarding the JDM tails and you guys seem pretty confident about the 7440 7443 business but I have also seen quite a few blatantly incorrect bulb fittings mentioned so its hard to know the score.
Anyway, I'm sure I'm going to find out soon enough and it may just be that I have never come across a genuine late spec JDM car with the harness intact as most people add the clusters to older JDM cars that had the old style clusters....! If they did change the bulb fitting its probably because water can get into the clusters and rust up the spring in the bulb sockets pretty damn easily! I got my kit yesterday and only got to installing the gauge lights and the key ring, but they look great so far! The blue matches the light in my turn indicators since I swapped the green for a blue gel sheet. The cigarette lighter is a little confusing, but I understood what to do. I'm not going to install it the way you did because I have an extra key ring bulb holder and it looks like it should fit. I'll get pics up of that install this weekend!
