Hey everyone,
so in Dire need of a flywheel, fate decided to get me in touch with a All Trac owner who had an extra flywheel. he has put in a 3rd Gen 3sgte in his all trac and loves the hell out of it. he was telling me though that I should be getting a CEL because of the ECU not seeing the water pimp for the intercooler... and this would bog down the system and the car would lacking in performance. he also stated that because he bought a 3rd gen MR2 edu his boost leveled out at about 18PSI (now is 22PSI) I DO only get 12-14 PSI from my Turbo, but I don't have a CEL. never did, I don't know if thats because I routed the waterpump to just come on when the car power came on or the Wiring Harness Tweak'd did. has anyone else heard of this before? I'm curious to know. he did offer to put the MR2 ECU in my car to show me the differance (which I intend to do when I get my car back and put in a new flywheel and clutch) Thanks Kevin |

if you did the resistor mod for it then it would not throw the CEL. if you are not getting it and you got your harness from tweak he probably took care of it for you. i cant guarantee that tho. also not sure if he is running 22psi on a stock ecu because the fuel cut is just over 17. he could run an FCD but they dont work correctly on a MAP sensor setup they make the ecu think its at max boost all the time.

I'm confused...what ecu are you running in your car? Like ST205WRC said, fuel cut on a celica gen3 (st205) ecu is around 17psi. I think the mr2 version is different...maybe not. I have a st205 ecu for sale if you're interested

i used to run my stock ecu and turbo 205 on 20 psi without hitting fuel cut, and i know the map sensors dont max out till 22-24.

I am running a stock ST205 ECU.
however, the guy who I talked to has an MR2 Stock ecu in his. he has a Boost controller so that's, (assuming here) how he is managing the 22PSI I believe. he told me that the ST205 ECU, if it can't find the water pump in the system, it will bog down the performance of the car, only letting it boost around 12-14PSI. while the MR2 (not having the pump) ECU will allow you to boost to the 'stock' 17-18 PSI. though it comes with a -10 HP cost. if this is the case, I'll probably will be switching out the ECU soon-ish. if no one else here can confirm this then I will probably take him up on his offer to put his ecu in my car. and Ill test it... if it doesnt see the pump then it will produce code 54 and the check engine light will come on.

I know im a little late here but Teak did my wiringv harness, and for some reason tried the mod to eliminate the IC pump, and it never worked, I now have my check engine light on, and is a code 54, but, for some reason, don know why...Im hittin 18lbs of boost, very quickly!, and top side of 16lbs in 4th and 5th gear.....I know! weird,

I have a FCD installed and my ECU reads boost quite fine...and drops down after you let off throttle I thought the whole point of the FCD was to disperse voltage to chassis lowering the signal to borderline fuel cut and keep the fuel coming...

ive installed a FMIC on my st205, i removed the pump. I looped the charge cooler plug and now im running fine. Therez a lot of explanations of how to cure error code 54 on the net.
