Yesterday, I painted a 94 ST for a friend of mine, Joe. (he's an older, computer illiterate guy, so no 6gc for him..lol)
He had the car painted last year, but wasnt really happy with the color and whatnot, so he decided to have it repainted, since he has seem some of my work.
He decided he wanted to go with a dark charcoal, so I suggested "Flint Peal Metallic" (Toyota Code 1E0)
He liked it, so here are the results:

ill get some pics of it in the sun next week. smile.gif
im really digging the color, its nice and dark, yet still has a nice sparkle, especially under light.

thanks guys!

spy, its really tough to give an accurate estimate over the internet, especially without good detailed pics.
it really depends on how much you want to spend, and what exactly you want out of the car.
if your just looking at a basic respray, no jams, basecoat clearcoat, with under 5hrs of body work (no cut and weld patch work) your probably looking somewhere between 1500-2k.
if you want everything removed, door jams done the right way (doors off) windows out, ect, with a show quality paint job, your easily looking @ 5k plus.
by the same token, i paint cars in single stage paint, just quick "make it all one color" jobs, like i did on my own car (not jenns blue one, my white one) for under 800 all day, with some basic body work.
its really all about what you want out of the finished product.

cam: yea, im definetly learning and improving every day.
its funny, your dad is the one who really gave me the confidence to know i could do this...
one day, when i FIRST started painting @ maaco, (they had just got rid of someone, and gave me a shot cause i hounded em about it..lol) your dad was watching me thru the windows of the booth.
when i walked out of the booth, he looked at me and said "your gonna be GOOD at this. you've got the right feel for how to move." right then i knew i could do it, and i constantly look back at that moment for motivation when i need it.
coming from your dad, (who by the way, is one of the BEST painters i've seen by a long shot! lol) it really let me know i was on the right track. thumbsup.gif

1E0 is on a bunch of diffrent cars, which models and years exactly, i dunno, i know its used on the scion tc, the lexus rx350, corollas, ravs, and prolly the camry too, along with a couple others.
if your talking about the charcoal color thats on the newer camrys, that looks more grey than this, thats color code 1G3. (toyota makes several similar grey/charcoal colors)

I was asking more about the gray-ish color, 1G3. I didn't know if this was the same color, I thought it looked a little darker. It suits the lines of a Celica very well.
