Hi all. Anyone of you who own an ST205 WRC managed activate his or her water injection kit?

Hi,

yes it is possible to run the system, or in other words is is possible to use some of the parts

- the pump is not accepable
- the pressure regulator is not accepable
- the valve is acceptable


the pump do not have the power to run the system, the regulator itself works but the one way valve in the regulator unit don't do this becouse
it is designt closes one time and then it never opens

today i calculated the injector, it looks like to me that is is just a very small injector, i will post the picture of once i know how i can
change from PDF to a picture

Hi,

here we go



note that the valve do not use any PWM signal, it is just able to open or close

for now i will try to get more infomations about the TTE injection valve and his flow rate, it is definetly possible that this is a valve just for homologation purpose

easier to buy a kit or make one yourself than activate it from what ive read

Thnx. Yea it has always been a subject of discussion but without any final positive answer. Lets try to sort out this problem once for all. On my side i have managed to activate the water pump, and its not dummy, it really works. I found out that the ECU had a pin labelled 'winj' which i presume stands for 'water injection'. I saw a green wire connected to the pin and i followed it to finally discover that it was connected to a little injector situated in the intake. I think only the pump needs to be connected to get it work. Im trying to activate and connect mine. Your 'helps' are most welcome. will keep u informed of any development. Thats y id like to know if someone u know managed to activate it. i personally think its possible. I noticed that the valve too needed to b activated. I opened it and found that the water passages were blocked. Am working hard on it.

True its easier to buy a kit, but i might save 800 bucks if i manage to get it running.

Hi,

i know that the pump is not a dummy, but the pump has not enough power (presure), so the one way valve in the pressure regulator housing does not open (becouse the valve is not build to open -> valve seat to ball alignment)

i inspected these parts and found that the system is like the ALS system, consciously by toyota not activatable

i just will use the nozzle for my water injection system and controll it by a aftermarket ECU and pump

here i uploaded you a pictrure from the homologation sheet of the ST205 to get a better sight of the system



i would not play with the wires and the ECU, the risk of a damage is to high

thnx mate. controlling the nozzle for the water injection system by an aftermarket ECU and pump is not a bad idea. If my pump cant give enough pressure i will thus have to get a bigger one. anyway i will try it this week and give feedbax.

AEM's kit has a progressive controller that ups the flow as your turbo pressure goes up ( boost line hooked up to the controller) with a 150 psi methanol approved pump...cost me 450$ with a 20 liter tank I believe.

you can safe you time, a friend of mine was testing the oem pump some time ago, he was in need to use two pumps serial to get enough power, he also
dismounted the oem one way valve and used a aftermarket one

Hi all. Im 90% done with the activation of the water injection. The pump is working, pressure is there. The regulator is finally working, but i had to open it, clear the passages, change the spring and the little ball bearing inside the valve as it was rusty and thank god they r working:) The only problem that i have to sort out now is to get the necessary power from the ecu to the injector. But thats a very sensitive issue. will let u know if therez any more developmentsXD

Yeah bro but i think the pressure problem was probably due to rust as it was a dormant pump. Or he located the pump too far from the injector as its a small pump and couldnt make it to the injector. it was probably located too far when he tried to activate it. I had to use my wiper tank (which is close to the intake) to get hold of enough pressure from pump to injector. At first the regulator refused to close once it was opened as u correctly said above. But i finally found the problem, it was rust once again. I got a softer spring and a new little metallic ball of the same size as the original one (very important; u can get it where we repair bicycles) and its finally opening and closing correctly. It working exactly like a fuel regulator.

Hi,

good way to solve the one way valve problem and yes the system is like a fuel system

for inform, TTE get controll of the exact pressure with a VSV between pressure regulator and intake manifold (air)

by my nozzle measurement i found the amomization of water becomes good from 2,5bar and higher

iirc my friend bought a new pump becouse the old one was not able to run any more -> rust

to find the correct amount of water it is essential to get controll of water pressure and boost on the engine (activating point), to much water and the engine run not well if he run, i would also use a air temp. sensor

hi. Thnx bro. so i better get a gauge meter to monitor the water pressure:) I havent been able to work on thw ecu yet. Have a friend who just bought the engine, i will try to have a look at his wiring before proceeding.

for me the answer is relatively simple, i like a recirculation system like a fuel system more and also want to get a fine flow controll by a VSV on the pressure regulator and a PWM signal

@Lagos: Yes man i think thats the best solution if i fail to activate the oem wi.

@sunny: I'm praying that i get it activated. I have been researching on several forums and it seems to me that no one has been able to activate it yet. Concerning the ECU am 90% sure it can control the system. Bcoz last time i opened the ecu, when i grounded the 'winj' pin i heard a clicking sound coming from the wi injector...which confirms that it is indeed connected to the ecu.
