Point 1: There isn not just 1 model coming...it should be 3, subaru, Toyota and SCION Point 2: This is nothing like an EVO/STI/ect ect ect stop comparing apples to oranges. They all cost 40k NEW. Point 3: If you want to argue something HP doesn't make a fast car..POWER to WEIGHT ratio does... EVo = .083 hp/lbs STi = .087 hp/lbs valid comparisons: RX8= .078 hp/lbs S2000(softop Ap2) =.086hp/lbs Miata = .069hp/lbs and FT86 = ~.071 hp/lbs estimated. Point 4: So far "on paper" non of the cars half you people bring up are going to handle as well as the 86, look at the CG and how low everything sits. the 86 is 460mm from the ground...LFA is 445mm...STI and EVO are over 500mm not to mention a 53:47 distrobution..its balanced learn how to argue legit points or stfu. Point 1: Actually, there's only 2 coming to the states. Subaru and Scion. Point 2: Yes, everyone comparing this to a 370, Mustang, or Camaro are crazy. This compares more with a Miata, Civic, 2.0T Genesis, or 1 series BMW. This is shaping up to be a purpose built Autocrosser. Point 4: I would like to counter that ride height is not the only factor in CG. Not only is this slung low, but the engine sits about 4 inches lower than in an Impreza. I read somewhere that the rear most cylinders are level with the center of the wheels. That means that the majority of the weight is sitting incredibly low. For comparison, go outside and look at your Celica and see where that engine is sitting. To sum up, its not about raw numbers, but rather about the feel you get from driving. Everyone who has driven it says that its fun. Sure, people have said that it could use a few more horsies, but that is easy enough to do in the aftermarket. Especially given the current Subaru market available. -------------------- '99 Celica GT - Sold

C) I was not stating ride height, those are the measurments for center of Gravity. D) its using a flat H motor from subaru so all cylinders are horizontally opposed, thus lowering the CG see img http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attachment....mp;d=1320266607 |

Pretty sure he's talking about worldwide bro. As in Scion in north america, subaru and toyota evrywhere besides north america oops, my mistake.A) you skipped point 3 B) Civic is not comparable as its a FF platform. C) I was not stating ride height, those are the measurments for center of Gravity. D) its using a flat H motor from subaru so all cylinders are horizontally opposed, thus lowering the CG see img http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attachment....mp;d=1320266607 A) I skipped point 3 because I didn't have anything to add to that. yeah, power to weight is an important measure instead of just focusing on hp. B) I figured that Civic would be a competitor because or price, size, power, and target sales. Thats why I threw it in there. C) Didn't realize that those were CG measurements. I suck and mentally picturing mm measurements, so I figured that those were just ride heights. D) Yes thats a neat graphic thanks. I pretty much agree with you and was just adding to your points more than arguing against them. -------------------- '99 Celica GT - Sold

Do you realize how ignorant your last 3 posts have been? Oh my god we have a winner folks, Do you own stock for the Snail FRS, wow, i bet you were part of the design. Let me tell you a bit of a Story, i can buy any car I want, and dont want, for that matter. But ill buy this one thinking about you and ill slap quadruple turbos, muffler bearings and 32 inch spinners. Slap some VTEC stickers and tripple spoilers... I like to stir things up once in a while Chilll mak5603 havent u noticed most of my posts dont make sense at all. Im trying to talk to the level of a 16 year old, so we can understand all each other. Ok ill stop before i get moderated.. Here is my real opinion, some options on the car suck, will i buy one, maybe, depends on the us market presentation. I pity you if this humor is actually funny to you. I guarantee you are the only person laughing... Why post useless posts to "act like a 16 year old"? Pretty immature.. You can like whatever you want, man. But why hate on what other people like or want because it isn't the apparent supercar you expected it to be? If you have negative comments, especially ones saying this car is "crap" or "not what people expected" it seems you need to do more research. A. On what people expected, and B. The amount of thought Toyota put into this car, as plyr stated. I have to own stock to tell you that you are talking down on behalf of something you apparently know nothing about? And just because i call you out, you back into your corner and just start making fun of me...wow man... -------------------- 2006 BMW 330i - 6 Speed - Dinan Stage 1

You people that want AWD gotta go elsewhere. A Hachi Roku with AWD is sacrilegious!!! Anyway... 200hp is possible... Toyota's direct injection... Subaru's 190ps EJ20... possible... but i'm not holding my breath. To quote myself from 2 years ago... To all of the haters and fools out there... reality sucks doesn't it? People all pissed because their dreams of many horsepowers and wanna be driving skills are out the window. This thing is literally EXACTLY what i expected... and to an extent, even slightly better. It has as much horsepower as I expected... think about it. It makes about 100hp per liter without valve lift. That's pretty damn good. The ONLY factory engines that make more than that have some sort of valve lift system. It's a good entry level sporty car... and we don't know anything about the trim levels yet... so don't be quick to judge on the brakes, suspension, body weight, etc... yet. Personally... the car looks fine. Better than the concepts IMO. Performance is gonna be fine... especially as a weekend track car or something like that. And.... Chill the fück out with all of the heat people. It's still a Toyota product (mostly)... and might not be your cup of tea... so dissin on the car just shows you got some other insecure issues going on. I mean... ultimately it's just a car. Wow...people are hurt because Toyota didn't build a 300 horsepower sport compact? That's what aftermarket parts are for haha. Toyota stated from the beginning that this was NOT going to be a fast car but a driver focused, good handling car. If you missed that, I can see why there are so many compliants. Like Kwanza, this car exceeded my expectations. Not everyone wants a old Corona or a Cressida. And guys this is 2011, every manufacturer takes a piece from one another LOL! Really!

blue tips are dumb. Perhaps real titanium tips would change my mind on that, but I think it is best to just replace with a muffler with single walled tips.

I saw that render on Night-Import too, Andrew lol. So pretty. Just goes to show what a little bit of modding can do for any car.

Wow, somebody needs to chill out. For your info, ive reasearched, more than you can imagine.
Funny is how all of us are debating about a car that maybe 20% of anyone thats posted her will buy, not because of price, but because of better options. Mak, good for you if you like the car, Shame on you if you think im not entitled to have opinion on the car. Why do you defend so much a car that you have not seen, its beyond me and frankly dont care. I stated my opinion to everyone and not to you. And YOU came back and attacked ME stating that i had ignorant comments, when my comments were not directed too YOU. I came back, trying to make something funny out of it and chill before it gets out of hand and you simply put it out of hand. My opinion still stands. Bad paint on the release product. the brakes are simple, dont like the spoiler and dont like the A/c controls. Is that ignorant. LOL, i never expected this car to be a supercar, i expected something more refined from toyota. Please look at the BRZ, it is more refined that the "supercar" you claim to like. ill just stay out of this, because i expect a supercomeback and i dont want this thread closed. And no i dont want to take it to the yard after third period. You win. Ill say its awesome from now on... cheers mate... oh and i apologize to the rest and moderators for being immature and stating my opinion. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... If you PM me and I dont respond, dont fret or cry. Im alive, better post your questions in the thread below, maybe I log back in 2grfe Swapped... Why I chose the 2GR, before you ask read here... To answer your question about which concept appealed to me... that would be Scion FRS that debuted at New York Auto Show. It was absolutely THE vehicle I would very much be praising right now. While vehicle did not feature any specific engine, it did have a very radical body styling that very very much appeals to me. The crazy tail lights, the crazy rear defuser, front bumper stayed relatively true to concept model that came with led light bars (which I wish it had in concept 2), it also had a interesting rear window thing going for it. Car was done by 5 axis if I recall correctly... and it was done right.
By contrast production version is turtlenecking. -------------------- Captain Pessimist

You know, I'm never going to get rid of my 6GC for another car.... and I do like this car. its pretty and it is going back to Toyota roots. but honestly I didn't really care about it... until I saw this Video. for a spilt second... there is the GT-86, AE-86, MK IV Supra, and... a 6Gen Celica GTFOUR. with the quote "a Tribute to Sports Car Heritage." not the 7th gen but the 6th. and that made me so proud. and I will at least test drive this car.

But I think this car will grow on people over the next few months(in spring) as we get to see it in person. -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

The front bumper is the only noticeable difference between the two in my opinion and it's the least attractive as well. I will admit that the BRZ grew on me more upon seeing it in a more flattering color at the Subaru press briefing and videos.
