I'm down with that price.

I am not opposed to buying the BR-Z over the FR-S - it's all going to come down to small creature comforts.. and 3K isn't much when you're looking at a sport interior, wheelset, and most likely Brembo brakes all around.

Brz options loaded are far better than FRS. ILL be going subaru on this one.

Keyless ignition, auto climate control, wheels, brakes ect

haha toyota fail! isn't this supposed to be a car suited towards the corolla ae86?? Now it seems as though the better factory options are going to be from Subaru??

oh wait nvm, this could just be because we are in America with the re-branded toyota 86 as a scion frs. Silly me

The BRZ production model isn't going to be released until Detroit right?

Bonzai, I don't remember the '86 being above par in equipment in its time, so why should the FR-S have tons of stuff on it? Toyota makes a bare bones model, same drivetrain, chassis, and suspension (also known as the important stuff) with less frou frou and then Subie will give you the nicer one for a bit more. It's good marketing. What the **** is wrong with you people and being such downers?

Honestly, I just want the AWD, that's the main reason I'd go with the Subie over the Toyota. Especially if they are the same motor and (basically) same body.

Dude...its not awd, as already been stated. Go buy a wrx...

And ferdi, i have been trying to figure that out for like 4 pages, lol.

I watched a vid and have to say, i was very pleased with the engine sound these things make from factory!

There is not a single model of FT-86 that has all wheel drive technology. At various presentations engineers stated more than once that having AWD will add "unnecessary" weight.

Now do not get me wrong.. there may be a AWD car in the future, such as privately entered car into rally racing that was converted into AWD. WRC cars often follow that suit.

There should be about 30 cars out there with AWD namely cars like audi, saab, subaru, kia, buick, mitsubishi etc.

As to difference between the 3 versions:

-same body
-same engine
-different bumpers
-different but similar interior
-slightly different headlights and taillights (not necessarily interchangeable) -still unconfirmed.

Subaru has always priced their vehicles high. Almost always their interior is better. (STI's interior is about 95 times better than that of evo for example). Following suit you would expect subaru to feature a luxury interior where as scion would use cheaper materials.

If I had to advise on purchase of any of these....
secure finances first
research which car can be modified and how
figure out which dealer options you can do without to save you some cash during purchase (ie if you plan to change out audio system and use a garmin/tomtom gps... no reason to dish out $2000 on factory system)

We hear this all the time and it gets hella annoying: who really cares if it has a Scion badge? I dont know why people are so butt hurt over that. It's still a damn Toyota sheesh! Replace it with a Toyota badge if the Scion badge annoys the f*ck out of people rolleyes.gif I know I won't tongue.gif laugh.gif

I think that what really hurt people's feelings on the interior of the Scion is that it looks like they really cheapened up the dash.

If the FR-S isn't 3 or 4k cheaper than the BRZ, then my guess is that there will be a huge number of people defecting from Toyota/Scion to Subaru for this one.

At this point nobody is defecting anywhere. US economy is in recession (whether some like to acknowledge it or not), many out of college young people are either unemployed or under employed not ready to buy anything. Other people are generally under employed or in huge financial doo doo. To top it off lending institutions have changed their lending practices making loans harder to get or unfavorable to get. I do not see how there could be thousands of people lined up around the corner trying to buy ft-86.

Zoom over to ft86club lads. there are hundreds of photos there from all angles... inside and out.
