Once again someone hit me. She got ticketed for failure to yield.
Was heading straight down the road, and next thing I know a car is coming right at me from the left. Turns out she came directly into traffic, instead of yielding into the median, which my car was traversing. I attempted to dodge her, but deflected off her front passenger side into the curb which then launched my car 3 feet in the air, according to witnesses, and landing in the bike lane. I got the lasting image of myself grasping the steering wheel and looking at the sky as my last image before it slammed to the ground. Neck, back hurts. Not sure of condition of car, but pictures do not show all the damage. I don't know what to do now. I just got my 3s, and I know they'll try to salvage it again. Will have to inspect the damage later on. Bad time for a wreck, on holiday weekends, no answers til the 3rd. I've invested so much in her, and had so many plans...but people won't stop hitting me. Its scaring me out of further investments due to the value of the car. BTW, it was a brand new 2012 volks passat that hit me. Those new ones are huge, and hit like a tank...barely any damage to her car. This post has been edited by rave2n: Jan 5, 2012 - 5:24 PM |

Damn, I know roughly where that's at too. Messed up.
I'm not sure if it's safe to wish luck on the rebuild, but I hope better luck fares in whichever manner you may continue. Right before the meet too... -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

You've got the worst luck of anybody I know. You and enderswift. On the upside, at least your projectors survived... Hopefully you're ok and the back/neck pain is nothing serious.

Sorry to see this. Hope you're alright. That back/neck pain should be checked out though.
It is so dangerous to drive during this week. People's brains are so preoccupied that they do some crazy stuff on the roads. -------------------- ◊◊◊ My F/S Thread! ◊◊◊

The 1 projector closest to the impact is done, just can't see it in the pics. Cracked, thankfully have receipt for those.
From my estimations, both front rims, and tires are gone. Definatly some suspension issues, such as 808 said, the control arms, possibly strut bent we'll see. Front bumper, and splitter are done, as well fender. Already on salvage title from when the guy put the hitch through my beam. If just the bumper and light cause them to salvage, they'll do it again. Only at another 10% deduction for the salvage. So I can estimate, around 1600. Completely feasible with that amount of funds. That is, if that is all there is. Engine was still running when I got out...took me a while to notice. Shock and awe. Back is fine today, neck is sore as hell, but no stabbing pains, numbness, headaches etc etc. Didn't head to the doc, guess trying to be macho, but really all i want is my car fixed, or give me the money, and drop it off in my driveway, I'll take care of it from there. Don't feel like going through the insurance battle with the docs. Nothing severe, so in the long run, its not worth the hassle to ensue. That is of course saying I get no lasting hidden issue from such, but we'll see. More to come on the 3rd.. |

You're young. What seems like a minor injury now can screw you up for the rest of your life. Not worth the risk, in my opinion. Your neck and back are not areas to neglect and assume they'll be fine. I'd go see a doctor. If he says you're fine, I'd worry about the car. Otherwise, take care of yourself first. 6gc's are getting cheap and you've got your 3S, so worst case scenario buy a Celica with a blown 5S and transfer your parts over. I really hope it can be fixed though. Do you still have the car or was it towed somewhere else? If you still have it, how does the gap between the hatch and the body look? Dead giveaway for frame damage.

So Geico almost towed my car to Jacksonville because they "assumed" I would just take the salvage money without purchasing back my vehicle. Luckily I caught them this morning, and it is now being towed to my house where the adjuster can actually make a call on the value instead of assuming my next course of action for me. Eat that you stupid lizard.
Still waiting on the adjuster to even look at the vehicle to determine how much they are going to write a check for. Unfortunate for them, I have receipts for all aftermarket items. Lets see if they respect them. All neck and back pain are gone, so no worries there atleast! Purchased a scooter...yay!...which will be my transportation until I get the cellie fixed and back on the road. Logically thinking, there is no reason to just scrap it and take the money. Especially with a fresh 3s waiting to be swapped. If I took the estimated 1500 bucks in cash and put it down on another vehicle. That would be idiotic. Best bet would be to fix it up, swap the engine, and sell for cost on the forums. That is...if i wanted to sell it after all that. Thinking the new plan, once all is fixed. Drive the scooter to work, only drive the cellie for special occasions. Atleast on the scooter if I get hit, there is a good chance of no recovery, so I don't have to deal with this anymore. Sorry, I'm cynical. And FYI, I'm not that damn young! Almost 30...I just type young! |

At least you can keep humor through all of this. What I really want to know is, did you buy a Vespa?! lol nah, I went from JDM to chinese poo poo mobile. The humor is all I have at this moment. I know this is simply karma, luck, whatever you want to call it for my younger much stupidier days, that I must repay. When I got it, it wouldn't idle, and would stall without constantly revving the throttle. Holding throttle it would just die. Had to take the carb out and clean it all up, had a stuck throttle bladder...not sure if that term is correct, being I don't know a thing about carbs except they have alot of annoying little parts. Either or, used my now vaste mechanical knowledge gained from working on the cellie to get her running. Clean carb, adjusted valves, and timing correction. Shes runs 40mphs on a straight flat road, and gets me to work...can't ask for more for 300 bucks. Tow truck dropped my car off yesterday, ripped my splitters and almost the whole front bumper off in the process. Now my driveway is blocked, and the car is slammed to the ground, can't even roll it. The lady can't even park her car out of the street. Axle is snapped...scared to see if the trannie is damage...oh the glory. The adjuster better hurry up. Next step, get it up in the air, and find some cheap wheels to roll it into the work area. This post has been edited by rave2n: Jan 4, 2012 - 9:59 AM |

yup. time for a new shell, is it me or here the strut tower looks crooked... Yea I was thinking the same thing. Its pretty bad. The arm that holds the hub in place is severly bent, which makes me worry about the mounting points for such arm being bent as well. Can't really tell at the moment, but if something is to bend that much, it has to bend elsewhere to allow for such. The the steering arm or whatever it is called is bent all the hell. Can't see it well, but there is a small hole in the strut tower where the strut jammed itself into it. I had them tow it to the house, figuring I'd just replace the hub and be on my way, but its looking like they are going to have to come pick it back up and take it to the yard. Don't think there is enough reusable parts on there to part out....might try to steal the seat covers off before they tow it =) Ugh looks like I'll be out of the game for some time..dammit. |
