Im in the process of collecting parts to boost my 7afe, and had a question about the fuel system. I have read many different things about it, and was wondering if someone could provide me with the correct parts i will need to upgrade my fuel system. I plan on using the supra 7mge green top high impedance injectors and an st185 celica alltrac fuel pump. I have heard that using a 2bar map sensor from an mr2 turbo is the only other thing you need to run the larger injectors and i would like to know is if that is true?

Or do i need some type of piggy back fuel controller? I have an safc2 in my garage, but if all i need to do is run a 2bar map sensor for the ecu to adjust fuel delivery, that would make things a lot easier. And will i need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator or rising rate fuel pressure regulator, or will the oem one suffice? Your help is greatly appreciated!

2 bar map sensoe and 2x the stock size injectors = an acceptable tune.

iirc some year rx7 injectors are a good match

good idea to have a piggy back though. the search feature will be ur friend.

Technically, you don't need anything to run the 7mge injectors, there are people who have naturally aspirated 7a's with them (Celica74 does I believe) and I drove my car with the 315cc injectors n/a for a bit, it just seemed a little rich. The 2bar map is because the engine is seeing boost. Having some type of tuning is best, but it all depends on your setup and the amount of boost you are going to run. I have a 255lph Walbro fuel pump, 315cc injectors, and a 2 bar map. My car runs just as smooth if not better than before I put the supercharger on it. Since you have the safc2 I would use it, with the 7mge injectors, an upgraded fuel pump, and a 2bar map. With those things you shouldn't need a fuel pressure regulator.

With the 315s do I have to worry about ignition timing?

the 7a runs around 15:1 idle and cruise. more than 50% load it runs about 11:1

Will I have to retard the ignition timing if I'm only running 5-6 psi? Do I have to worry about detonation?

you always have to worry about detonation. if you have a pre96 you can just rotate the distributor back, if you dont you really should use a piggyback that can control the timing.

Since the ecu will advance timing, will the trick the mr2 guys do work on an obd2 ecu in our cars? The trick is to lower fuel pressure with an adjustable fpr and then add fuel with the safc. Doing it this way won't cause the ecu to advance timing. What do you guy think?

it dosnt have the capability to monitor fuel pressure.
