So in the process to going oem, long time ago i painted some parts in my car, silver like the SSIII look.

However it never grew on me, so i changed some parts in my car from a junkyard donor.

but the tweeter covers and door switches i did not find, so i decided to soda-blast the old paint in it and put plastic coat black.

amazing, the soda blast process gets into the little letters and removed all, and left plastic awesome to paint..

Just a thought.

That's just one of the billion uses for soda blasting

I still cant figure out why more people dont use it. It has all the benefits of sand blasting, without the major drawbacks

You can also use dry ice blasting on those kinds of components too, leaves no resdues or mess at all. wink.gif

the canister is from harbor freight. 100 bucks. the bag of soda is 40 bucks.

but you need a good source for air.

I used 1 bag to sodablast the gt4 hood. it just depends. for little things is not much.

but i spent almost 1 hour sanding carefully on one piece with 400 grit, vs 3 min. it saves time.

40 bucks is material only, people that do this charge by the hour. so be careful. I say a car might go for 400 - 600 if not more.

its white because its like its mildy sanded.

blasting it removes the paint from all nooks and crevices, without addtional damage.. but thanks for the input

What type of paint did you use for this? Looks like a great end result. I imagine the same can be achieved by very careful sanding, followed by wet-sanding.

i used sem paint.

I yes thats what i did at first. but some surfaces with grooves is almost impossible to get paint out thats why decided to do it. sanding takes a lot of time. this only 5 - 10 min per piece.
