thanks for the pic, thats exactly what i wanted to know. now here comes my rant!!!!

ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS! you are going to put that little "helper" shim under the OEM shim with a cam love rolling over it at high speed? dont you guys ever venture on Supraforums? yes i know this isnt a Supra with a 272 cam in it, but on Supras this would be a HUGE no no! it would spit those shims right out. now i can tell you this that the buckets, and shims are the same part numbers between our cars and i think this is a huge time bomb.

Ok so its working fine now on someone elses car, that doesnt meant its ok to do.

i have been in the toyota engine world a long time now and i do have lots to back my word up. Personally i think this is VERY bad and i would not do it. with any cam upgrade i would upgrade to 1ZZ buckets. it would cost about the same to get the right OEM shim.

look at the good picture above. the shim sits in a lip in the bucket. now if you put that helper shim under the OEM shim it will not be sitting as deep in that lip. you are just asking for it to be spit out by the cam. If you value my advise, i highly suggest doing it right and just getting 1ZZ buckets. is the 150 dollar insurance worth your engine?

I agree. So this is any cam grind? Could we go more aggressive than the 2**(72,94) or whatever Zac got in his?

The update is that I need more interest, lol. What I am trying to organize is not the typical "group buy" where we send one type of cams only. I am trying to generate enough business by sending him plenty orders of various types of cams to get a discount. I think cams is a great upgrade and I would like everyone in our community to be able to benefit from it.

Perhaps he is asking because the head count is not being updated based off of the posts in the thread?

-Nate

EDIT:
I will get it started

Head count:

1. JasonX - 94 celica GT 5sfe
2. Arsaces - 95 Celica GT 5sfe (More aggressive than Zac's if possible)

Hello all, I went to the junkyard and pulled apart an engine so that I could get a better understanding of the process of removing the cams. Here are my findings:

I had a chance to speak with Zac, but he does not have a record of what cam profile he got. He did mention that Geoff would probably know.

256 on Zac's. I wonder if the next up profile would require additional modifications? Still considered somewhat mild, but gotta check.

Add me to the list on OP, IMO if you keep it up to date it will probably attract more buyers. When you click on the page and see 1 name it seems more like "never going to happen".
