So, I've finally got the funds together to sell my ST184 GTS and get an ST205 either imported or buy one that's already landed. Assuming I get a '94, I'm wondering how do you tell if it's one of the 2500 WRC homologation models? Does it have a plate on the dash or something? I've seen a number of adds where people claim it's a WRC car just because it's a GT-Four. I'm not holding out for one but I'd certainly pay extra for it if I came across one.

check the vin number on the fire wall to see if your car is one of the first 2500 made.

So 0-2500 were the WRC models?

Look for the little hood spoiler and the extra bypass valve or something that looks similar to one thats hooked up to the turbo cooler outlet for the anti-lag system that is found on WRC models.

The heat shield for the turbo is also different for WRC models, as far as I know it extends a bit longer to the left to cover some important accessory bit.

Sorry for the vagueness. kindasad.gif

I wish the wrc actually had real wrc parts. Gearing in the 'wrc' transmission isn't even close.

I would assume it had straight cut gears like most race cars, that would drive a person quite insane on the road after a short time.

Now the hydraulic hand brake, that's something I'd want.

small hood spoiler, riser blocks (but who doesn't have those). bulge on exhaust heat shield (see pics), extra insulation underneath ic (should see it poking out), anti-lag pot just in front of ic, fmic spray bar in inside of bumper. VIN won't necessarily be in the first 2500. Mine is 2909

Is there a FMIC in those cars or just a sprayer for one they used in racing?

VIN will be < 5000....they only made 2,500 but it wasn't the first 2,500 to roll off the line. You have a 50% chance of getting a WRC with a VIN <=5,000

Most noticeable difference will be the anti-lag valve on the chargecooler. (passenger side, front).

Turbo heat shield is slightly different as mentioned, and there will be a little hood spoiler near the windshield on the hood.

Like I said though, easiest way to tell is the anti-lag canister on the charge cooler.

No FMIC.....it has the same top-mount W2A charge cooler as the non-WRC's.

The "sprayer" he is referring to is 3 nozzles in the bumper that point towards the chargecooler's heat exchanger. There are much easier ways to tell whether it is a WRC though.

Just pop the hood, look at the charge cooler, and look for a canister with a bunch of Japanese writing on it sticking off of it instead of just a hose.

Thanks everyone, I guess none of the cars I have seen pictures of so far were a WRC but I didn't expect there would be many left in Japan anyway.
