Hi, I am new to the forums here but I am toyota tech and owe 95 toyota celica. I thought i would see what kind of answer I get as me and my toyota tech friends can't seem to figure out this virbration issue with my celica. It's 95 toyota celica gt hatchback.

the Car seem to virbate really bad at 1,000 rpm, The dashboard on the passenger side make a loud virbating sound. At the same time another vibration goes from the front of the car to the back. The engine is fine the timing is right the motor is not shaking. Replace all the mounts on the car. Thinking maybe someone has run into the same issue and fixed the problem.

Also I don't know if this is relate to the vibration or not but I was under the car and had someone put the car in drive while pressing on the brake. keep at 1,000 rpm. I notice when it got to 1,000 rpm the engine would a lot of stress on the motor mount to go up. I check to make sure the mounts where on tight and none were lose.

any input or ideas would help.

Umm had a similar vibration on the passenger side dash and it was coming from my blower motor for my heat and a/c. Has the car ever sat a long period of time outside? Cuz rodents have a way of finding the blower motor compartment, making a nest, and then whenever your car is on with heat or a/c on it will vibrate the **** out of it because it is unbalanced. Just take off the glove compartment plastic and the foot rocker panel things, and there are 3 bolts i believe that hold the blower motor in its compartment. And be ready to be suprised, cuz mine was jammed packed with acorns. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion but the blower motor is not the issue. The vibration is more metal on metal. Might have to video tape the sound and post it here.

Being a Toyota tech I scene my fair share of fun rodents and acrons in the blower motor.

shaking dash, vibration by the console and shifter ... same issue mine had after changing the motor mounts, the passenger side mount is too stiff causing the vibration, i put the old mount back on and the vibration was gone. grab a pry bar and lift the motor slightly by the passenger mount and if the vibration lightens or goes away altogether you have the same problem i had, dig the old mount out of the trash and put it back on

The centerconsole and shifter don't vibrate. Just the corner end of the passenger side and the steering vibrate also. I had these problems even before I replace the rear and passenger side mount. I tried adjusting the passenger mount front mount and the right tranny mount no change.

anything solid that is pressed against the engine and the chassis simultaneously without a bushing of some sort will have the ability to transfer vibrations from the engine to the chassis, the four points most common are the mounts check to see if there's anything else pressed against the engine that shouldn't be.

its normal for the engine to torque on the mounts some if you brake and apply load on the engine

It not some it's a lot of force on the rear mount. Nothing is pressed up againest the engine. I video record the sound it's not perfect as I record it from my phone and make sound like exhuast leak but it not. IF this sound helps in anyways.

Have you replaced the hydraulic mount?

mine too was from the r/f area and i took the toyota noise kits we use on customer cars and insulated my entire dash with it and the rattle went away in my interior in the front dash area thats if you hearing from the inside dash area, my glove box was rattleing too. as for the steering column rattle im still trying to figure mine out when i put my a/c on and sitting at idle my entire column shakes but i think thats due to my poly urethane motor mounts.

Only way I would fix this is to chuck the wheels and put that car in drive and idle the engine at 1k rpm and start hunting for the rattle. I did this a couple years ago with some expansion foam and silicon to isolate some clips that hardened and started to rattle.
