only in the beams, per Daniel and Dustin. not for the 5SFe engine. and is the second gen 185 clutch and pressure plate, dont know if anything else does.

Is this because of the face size of the FW? I would imagine the face of the 5s flywheel would be undersized for the size of the disk of the 2nd gen 3sgte. But what confuses me here is spline count. I was under the impression that the s54 usdm gt transmission was 20 spline.... the e153 was 21 spline.... we know we can mount e153 to 3sgte and s54 to 3sgte... and this is where we need the hybrid axles with the e153 with the stock 20spline axle hubs with the 21spline transmission....

But aside from the spine count and the fw face size....
This is my thinking.... the s54 is 20 spline, so you need a 20 spline clutch.
Is the 2nd gen 3sgte stock clutch a 20 spline clutch? If it is going to work in the s54, jdm or usdm, it would have to be in my mind....

so when threads say things like this...

uh hold on a sec Batman. whats that your saying about using a 5sfe throw out disk and bearing.

the flywheel and the pressure plate is a 3s.
the disk is 5sfe (or just buy the acutal beams disk) and tob is s54.
that's what I'm saying.

QUOTE (BonzaiCelica @ Aug 27, 2009 - 2:30 AM) *
The s54 on 3sge redtop is a helical lsd. So stock axles from usdm gt celica will fit into the tranny correct.

I'm very aware of that.

Actually it is 3s flywheel, 3s pressure plate, 3s disk with 5s spline, 5s TOB. 5s disk like Manny showed is too small for the 3s flywheel.

the 5s disk does, and is working.
especially for these guys that arnt pushing 300+ft lbs. thru the disk

yes, its a 3s flywheel you guys would need, 3s pressure plate, 5s disk (or 3s disk with S54 spline count) and s54 TOB

they make a 3s disk with an s54 spline count?

I mean if you could get a 3s disk with s54 spline count BUST IT.... and then let me know what you bought. I wonder if the spine count on Turbo mr2 is 20 spline and the spline of the st185 is 21 spine? Frankly i have no earthly idea.... but if the turbo mr2 spline count is 20... we'd all be cooking with gas as long as our flywheel face is of appropriate size.... aka those of us in beams land

Sorry, break it down for me - when you're talking "splines" are you talking the center of the clutch plate??

... as in what mates to the transmission spline?

nah, i ordered an oem beams disc and paid the difference. the turbo cars us the e153 tranny even the mr2, so the splines will be different. Thanks for that post rico, otherwise i would have eaten the clutch price.

i need to pay for the skirts.

I saw a white 96+ 6gc from alaska on my way home. it had an alaskan licence plate and alaskan bumper stickers (like you would see on hippy station wagons). i've never seen any alaskan cars here and it was a 6gc. mind blown.

Congratulations Kurt.

Cleaned my interior, felt nice. Had a solid, sordid layer of dust in places where dust never should have been. All clean now. Also painted the strut bar flat black because, well, flat black goes on everything.

Told my landlord for the 7th time that the old celica is still registered and tagged, thus not being against code.

He still doesn't get it.
