I read the same. To that end, mine came with a three-year warranty. I had my Rockford Fosgate fail after about a year and a half of use, and it is now a paperweight. Quality-wise, this sub is three times sturdier and three times heavier. I trust it.

I think I made my final decision. I'm going to go with the Infinity components and the 8in dual sub.

I know dual is low end, but I love the fact that its so tiny in size compared to everything else, and the reviews on amazon sound like everything that I am looking for. I also like that its a band pass box, and everything else that I'm finding is sealed.

Here is a picture of it in the tiny trunk of a corvette.

Didnt feel like reading through all the posts on my phone, but the tube really isnt all that much bass. Yes its pretty small because of the tube design, but the amount of bass was not really anything. It wont like shake your car, its designed to give you the " sound" of the bass, just lower frequencies than your speakers. Thats the uniqueness of the tube. im not saying dont get it but a single 12" in a normal enclosure will shake the car a bit more. From experience this all is btw

JL Audio makes 8" subs as well. Last time I checked, they were only $50.

Well, good luck with it. Let us know how it is. A subwoofer is better than none. You'll be ready for an upgrade within time, bass is addicting.

Also, make sure to improvise some type of tie-down system - I had my box flinging around for a short bit before I secured it using the straps under the seats.

Thanks! I'll be sure to type of a review or something about it.

I actually used to have two 10s in a ported box with an amp. While they sounded nice and shook the car well, they were just not practical. They took up way too much space and dominated the rest of the speakers way too much. Thats why I decided to go the route that I did. Just to have something small that covers the range that the 6.5s can't do while not adding 50lb of weight and taking up half the trunk.

So I got everything installed and here is my little review.

I'm really happy with this setup so far. The Infinities added a lot more clarity and presence in the mids and highs without being too bright or harsh. I wouldn't say they are the greatest speakers I have ever heard, but they are probably one of the best in their price point. The tweeters probably made the biggest difference from stock as I finally realized how much of the highs I was missing with the stock tweeters.

The 8in sub is a perfect compliment to the system. It gives pretty accurate bass reproduction (at least for a product made by Dual) and just enough low end without being over powering. It produces really tight, punchy bass due to the bandpass box and that was one of the biggest reasons (besides size) that made me choose it (along with the positive reviews on Amazon).

Great for cranking up dub step! And after a bit of EQing, I was really surprised at how well rounded everything sounds. Its not just all bass shaking the car.

Here are some pics. The sub itself is a little smaller than a milk crate, as you can see in the pics.
