I used a Wagner spray gun combined with a gallon of plastidip+thinner.

Yea I will be doing the same after doing the hood with the rattle cans, I'm not happy with the extra work and the way the spray laid.

Figured if it went south I'd do as you mentioned above, and just get the whole car done in one shot, right.

Could you share your mix ratio of thinner to paint please?

I believe it was 1 quart thinner to 1 gallon but it was provided in the kit from dipyourcar.com

When you buy a gallon they already provide the thinner. The prices are cheaper than locally but since they are in Florida the shipping really kills it for me. The main reason I bought from them initially was for the sprayer since it was unavailable anywhere else.

Yea looks great.

Going to be doing the same method soon, just grabbing my own wagner, and some thinner. No need for a "special" sprayer.

Most likly I'll take off the rattle canned dip, do a general sanding of the whole vehicle, and just spray away.

With the new residence I'm not stuck under trees, and working in a sand lot. So I have alot more room for a more professional looking spray. Plus the wagner is cheaper overall verses buying the cans seperatly, also less work for better results.

I'm thinking 2 weeks I'll tackle it.

Can't wait to see it. The sprayer is not really that "special" per say. Its the same sprayer as wagner double duty except the motor isn't attached to the gun rather its seperate via 20ft of hose. Makes it easier to control the gun without the weight of the sprayer.

Ah good to know, that is the sprayer I was looking at. Knowing that now answers the question of if it can handle the plastidip.

Making sure I can use Floetrol with plasidip to thin.

I'm not sure. You may want to contact Plastidip directly and ask them.

Heres another shot in better lighting.

I hate to blow my surprise, but I have every intention of Plasti-Dipping my entire car; YELLOW. Except for the hood and a few other tidbits. smile.gif

Excited to see how yours turns out.

And they do sell car kits straight from their website.

Decent pricing and great guys to work with. Of course because I'm in Canada I deal with the Canadian Vendor, Patrick.

I'll hook you up with a URL later. smile.gif

About 5-10 minutes each coat. About 4-5 coats.

Lol, quite interested to see how that would turn out. Though yellow is my favorite color, I'm sure it would look good. I know my lady would love it =P Lol sorry had to say it, its here favorite color for her dream car being the older Jeep Wranglers. I'll definately check them out directly, just trying to avoid "overhead" on a special sprayer that is in turn, not special.

About right, this stuff drys amazinly fast, and like Zaluss said, 4-5 coats. You want to apply a large amount of coats so it can come easily in the future if planned.

I like the way it looks on the 5th, so I can imagine it looking good on the 6th.

I should be starting on mine next week, just waiting on fundage to settle after moving.

Here is what my plastidipped car looks like after a month or so has passed. Some good close up shots of the texture. I've seen quite a bit of rain and rocks driving 60mi everyday.

Same so far, this coming weekend is when I plan on doing more weather permitting. Life is finally settling down.

well, my car is already black, and my fave color is black.. and was looking at doing a black on black scheem w/ the plasti-dip. but i have also been looking at the GMG gun metal grey. perhaps with the metalizer... dont think they have the metalizer availbile for use through the spray gun though. my bro is wanting to shoot his 06 evo MR9 in the rally blue they have.

Still getting this done soon fellas...weather was horrible this past week in FL, so on hold pending weather as usual.

Went to order the paint and noticed midnight blue as an available color..has me interested, but don't want the car to appear...femine.
