THeres something wrong with this whole scenario. How can they give you 6 mos jailtime for something called an "unsafe start." Thats all it is...was there any charges against u? Did you not pull over right away? I just am failing to see where jail time comes into play with chirping tires. Even DUI doesnt land you in jail ur first time.

Well seeing your reaction, thats probably why the judge said that, I would be just as scared if a judge said 6 months in jail, so would any person. Honestly there job isnt just to judge but to try and correct the problem at hand, and idle threats work pretty good, maybe he was serious, but thats my take on it. |

K...so it's ok to murder someone when no one's around? That's basically what you're saying, that laws don't have to be obeyed if no one is around. All I'm trying to say is, there are ways around this...mainly find a track. AND YES there are companies that will let you use their parking lot, I wouldn't have said anything about it if I didn't do that myself. -------------------- 95 Toyota Celica GT

No, its not ok to murder someone...use some common sense. The reason I said that is that as long as you aren't endangering anyone else in this particular case, I don't see the problem.

It's still a law, use some common sense and obey them...and if you decide not to then don't bitch and moan about getting in trouble for it ya know?

the reason it's a law is because you're endangering others by doing it. If you take the "others" that you are endangering out of the scenario (no one being around), then it really shouldn't be a problem. Your little murder analogy is kind of ridiculous. - aba This post has been edited by abatardi: Feb 22, 2004 - 2:50 PM |

I'm just bringing the viewpoint of the police, not necessarily my own there bud. I'm calm actually, and just trying to show you why the judges and the police will still give you a ticket, even if "no one else is around"...because it's a law and breaking it whether people are around or not doesn't matter, because to them if you break a law you broke it and deserve punishment.
Besides, if no one was around...wouldn't that mean the cops weren't there either? ..Again, just bringing another viewpoint to the situation. And honestly, your system is pretty messed up man if a good looking girl can get out of 85 in a 45, but that's cops for you. I guess it's one advantage of being a girl, and a good looking one. -------------------- 95 Toyota Celica GT

I agree that there are a lot of dumb laws, but the one for not pulling over for an emergency vehicle I can understand. Well, mostly because I still live at home and my dad's a cop. He b*tches all the time about how people won't get out of his way when he's going to a call while running code(lights/siren). He had to back up his beat partner who was fighting a guy with a knife one time and people wouldn't get out of the way. So, just think if it was someone you knew who was in trouble and the cops, firefighters, or ambulance couldn't get there in time because someone wouldn't move out of the way. Just something to think about... Well, just read this part: "Dont get me wrong on that law, i just think it's upsurd that they had to make it a low in the first place. I mean how the hell is a cop going to stop what he is doing and pull you over to give you a ticket for getting in the way and then proceed to whatever he was doing. I just they could just call in the plates or whatever but it's still common sense like you said to get out of the way." Not only can they call in the plates, they also have it on video. All the cop has to do is go back and look at the tape. And the tapes aren't biased This post has been edited by CupCrazy38: Feb 22, 2004 - 7:59 PM |

Sounds to me from one of your posts that you didn't pull over right away. My best friend is a big city cop and while he would never give out such a pussy ticket - he would get pissed if he wasn't listened to (not pulling over). The search thing was probably boarderline legal - they would probably say the PC was that you were driving crazy so you could be drunk/high so they were looking for drugs. Although, I think they usually ask if they can search (you probably said sure) just so they don't have to defend the PC in court.

lol, no, all i'm saying is they shouldn't have had to make that law in the first place. Thats all. But no sense in arguing over it cause it's already been finalized and there is nothing i can do about it. :-) Ohwell, now i know not to drive anymore unless i'm ready to pay for it.
