Is she still straight? I'm amazed the car could survive that roll and be good as new with a little panel work

guess the cage has done its job then?

Yeah I think so drives straight, havent seen any bent control arms. Struts may need a rebuild, but they probably need rebuilt before this event anyways.

you would be surprised how strong the car is just as a shell. Even with no parts in it. it literally takes a front end collision at 40mph to even think about bending the frame rails in the engine bay...and that's the weakest frame section on the car because they're unsupported. A little rolling down a hill is childs play lol.

My entire car is also stitch welded on every seam, so along with the cage it's much stronger than your average chassis.

Donor car... still drives perfectly normal...

The last two pictures are very depressing. I'd hate to know how much time you have to take to measure everything out before cutting these cars apart. However, I'm in for more rally pictures!

hey you seem really good at this stuff ( all of the body work and glass removal) i take it you took the rear quarters off the doner car... do you have any pix on how to do that ( remove the rear quarter glass that is already installed on a car ) i was carrying some speakers in my car and one of em rolled over and smashed out my passenger quarter glass.. frown.gif there are a few celicas around here in some pic-n-pulls but have no clue where to start on removing the part with out breaking it... any help would be great thank you....

oh and EFFING AWSOME WORK!!!!! no joke, every time i look at this thread it only inspires me, knowing that there are guys like you who actually USE there car, beat it up, and fix it rather than just replacing it when there is a small problem (or big) smile.gif keep up the good work man!!!

With a plunge bit. Cut from the inside of the car. Use some kind of lubrication on the blade so the blade vibrates through the urethane easier. You'll be able to tell when you're through the urethane and bouncing off the metal, keep cutting the same area over and over again until you get to the metal. There's a learning curve to it, but I can probably get one of those side windows out now in about 15 min. You'll also have to take the door trim off. I cut that side from the door area.

They sell battery powered ones too but are more expensive.

Getting there... Dad came over and did most of the bondo work, he has much more patience than I do. Hopefully finish the bondo and tape it off thise week.. Spray it next weekend.

I have flat black and viper blue paint so i'm going to experiment with how I want to paint it.

Haha I'll be very happy if that doesnt happen. Ill probably be driving like a grandma in the next race.


One thing as far as welding... spend the extra money, use gas. Flux-core vs gas isn't even close in comparison. Welding it depends... some is easy some is difficult, gravity plays a big part in making things difficult. If you're welding upide down etc. Also thicker metal is much easier to weld than thin stuff.

Body panels are very difficult to weld.

^ You, sir, have one cool automotive life. Built a rally car and has a V8 RX in the garage...

I've found a local dirt road that has five consecutive S- and 90-degree turns, it's unused and perfect for trying a bit of hooning. Dirt is fun stuff, but doing that gives me more respect for seeing you hurl your car around at speed.
