The 2.2L engine in my GT Vert won't start. I had a shop run a diag and they came up with igniter circuit malfunction #1, I replaced the igniter with a used one from ebay and it didn't make any difference. Has anyone experienced this problem before? What should I do next?

Mine used to start but have this really bad issue while idling and accelerating. It's as if it was losing sync with the ECU. Apparently both the ECU and Igniter module were bad.

The previous owner had tried using a new igniter to no avail. However, I fixed it with the unconventional method of taking out the ****ty stock ECU and putting an EMS on there (Megasquirt-II).

Your issue could be in the ECU or that you have the wrong igniter. If the igniter circuit in the ECU is bad, it won't work no matter how many igniters you try. Before attemping an expensive purchase like an ECU, I would try and take it to another shop, preferrably one that knows about these Toyotas.
