drop a beams engine!

Means I'd need to change transmissions though. redface.gif That and I was wanting an engine that I can find parts for readily. If going through transmission change as well I'll go with the 1MZ-FE. Goal is to do the swap for little to next to nothing. Finding a wrecked s/c MR2 would do that. Then again so would finding a wrecked Camry/Solara. Still trying to decide if I want to swap or just say screw it and go with something else. Would like to keep the Celica, I know its history and it's a delightful little car. Still my favourite FWD car based on looks, handling, and material quality.

Then keep it for a dd an buy a older v8 car or a import shell to build up

Saw a HOT*** blonde driving a red 96+ gt in traffic. I had to drive the speed limit and slower for her to keep up with me biggrin.gif. I realized during the ten minutes that she was the car behind me that the GT4 spoiler blocks your view of the driver behind you's face. Le frown D:

Today I had the thought of swapping in a 4A-GZE as means of a cheap and easy swap since I have the ST. Looked up 4A-GZE engines on eBay, would be cheaper to find a wrecked MR2... One was over $1,400 for engine, trans, ECU, wiring etc... I don't need the trans though, still $1,000 or so. Would be better off selling the Celica and buying another car. Was trying to think of ways to keep the Celica and be happy with it. Though, would get some money back from the 7A-FE and ECU etc I suppose. Guess will look out for a S/C MR2 someone drove into a tree... Then would could regain, if not make, money.

Its about the same price to do a 3s swap, and more power.

Mounts, cross member, and S54 aren't to pricy.

----------

Today I....

Removed the passenger side wheel assembly that has been giving me trouble, in hopes of replacing the bearing.

Though it has been done without a press, I just didn't have the means to beat the old one out, much less the patience. So I took the assembly to a shop, and they pressed the old one out, and new one in for 50 bucks.

The catch, because there is always one.

My wheel hub is scarred up pretty bad, and there is a small amount of play I noted when reinstalling it. I figured no biggie, I'll score another one, and buy a press while I'm at it. Well I cannot seem to find a wheel hub for sale anywhere specific to our celicas. Anyone know where to pick one up?

I feel the new bearing will last a bit, I just don't want any parts that have been recently replaced or repaired in question after the swap. More power, is going to make these shortcuts more apparent.

Also noted the passenger side axle mount was loose. Went to tighten them down, and stripped one..with just arm strength, and I have chicken arms. Picked up a 2 longer bolts, 4 washers and 4 lock washers and installed them to keep that bugger in place. Locktited of course.

So busy weekend on the celica, but I feel a bit happier about the progress, and no more noises besides the power steering belt noise when cold, but all in all..I'm semi-happy with it, and begin prepping it for plastidip that I intended to do this weekend but got stuck doing mechanical work instead.

Julian - great pick-up! I have a set sitting in my storage room waiting for new summer tires. Can't wait to see yours on your Celica.

Yesterday, I winterized the windows a bit - Rain-X for both the interior and exterior to prevent fogging and what not.

Today, I drove to work enjoying the sound of my 6gc.

On the way to work this morning I pulled over because I heard a dinging sound....

In my paranoia of my recent work I get on the ground looking for any indication of what it was. Couldn't find a thing..

Pull out, and realize it was the scissor jack I left on the back floor board dinging on bumps.

This is the first time this Celica has been silent when driven. Only noise to be heard is the intake, and the wheels rolling on the ground. Woot!

That actually works? Cause if it does, I get it for free at work and I know what I'm doing to my celica when I finish her up because I hate fogged windows with a passion. Haha.

Edit: I just realized I could text you and ask instead of replying. laugh.gif

I replied to your text already but yup, it works pretty well. The interior stuff keeps the windows from fogging up and the exterior stuff makes water bead up and roll off. My favorite thing is to drive at highway speeds once the windows are treated and watching the rain drops run right off the window - no wipers needed. smile.gif
