I am in the (timely) process of doing a swap to my 98 Celica GT. I am at the part where I will be assembling manifold and am going to get the berk downpipe. My question is which one? I plan on running the stock ECU and not going to crazy with my car (for now anyway). It will be a three season vehicle here in MA. Is it wise to get the wideband o2 now in case I eventually put in a management system? Does the regular o2 sensor fit in there? Is the ceramic coating worth it or is it just marketing? Then it's a 3" outlet. Should I run 3" all the way back? I have seen that can result in boost creep.
Also: How many gauges (and what should they monitor) would people recommend? I assume oil pressure and boost. But I see all this AFM, no AFM, temperatures etc so I am a little confused for my application. Thanks all. |

I am running a Berk 3" Ceramic Coated with wideband bung. *both wideband and stock 02 sensor are mounted. Full 3" exhaust with high flow metallic spun cat.
Stock ECU, 17lbs. No issues. Gauges: AEM Boost, Wideband, Oil Pressure. Hope that helps and best of luck with your swap. -------------------- |

I too have a fully loaded Berk DP on my 3rd gen 3sgte. i have a 2nd gen o2 sensor in the dp and up until recently i wasnt running a wideband and it worked fine.
i have my dp hooked up to a 3" b-pipe with a 3"cutout connected to a 2.5" cat back 14psi cutout closed (full exhaust) 18psi cutout open (open exhaust) stock ecu/boost guage/ wideband the berk dp is a great option because it has a built in flexpipe to prevent cracking. -------------------- st205 powered ss3 coupe

Looking inside the Berk DP the welds look really ****ty!!!! But I installed it and love it!!! Berk 3" Ceramic Coated only installed the O2 sensor and plugged the other... Works great!

I have a 3" wideband. if you are running a turbo run a wideband. make sure you use the metal arm that comes with the down pipe. that helps keep the down pipe stable, and prevents the welds from coming apart. but otherwise its one of the best Down pipes out there.
