It should be the same style Toyota MAP sensor. Maybe a 3S-GTE from an older gen is compatible. Compare yours to an older one.

a 2nd gen will not work, and im not sure if the 3rd gen has the same style connector, do you have any pics of what it looks like?

At least, the 3rd gen one is a 3 bar MAP sensor (like your ST215 one). If you can't find a ST215 one, a ST205 one should work, but as pressure2 said, maybe the connector isn't the same and it will require a custom bracket to install it at the OEM location (top left of intake manifold).

Good luck!

I thought it was 2 bar not 3

Yes, 2 bar relative pressure. But this is 3 bar absolute pressure. Guess what this sensor measure : Manifold Absolute Pressure.

-1bar vacuum, +2bar boost = a scale of 3 bars

No you stated "At least, the 3rd gen one is a 3 bar MAP sensor (like your ST215 one)." I'm saying when I look up all information pertaining to st-215 parts, I thought the sensor that comes on that engine is a 2 Bar map sensor? and not a 3 bar sensor.

gen3 has a 3bar MAP sensor.
gen4 has a 3bar MAP sensor, but it is physically slightly different than the gen3 one because it's bolted on the intake manifold instead of the firewall.

You asked for another MAP sensor that you could use to replace your ST215 one. I've said you could use the ST205 one (gen3) because it has the same scale, so the ECU will read the pressure correctly. What is the problem here?

You need to understand what a MAP sensor really measure. It measure the Absolute Pressure inside the Manifold. It can measure from 0PSI absolute (-14.7 PSI vaccum or -1bar in relative pressure speaking) to 43.5 PSI absolute (29 PSI boost or 2 bar in relative pressure speaking). So, this is a 3bar sensor. I agree with you that it can measure only 2bar in relative pressure, but this is not the full scale of the sensor.

Okay! with no disrespect toward the fact that your helping me. However trust the fact that i'm very much aware of relative pressures, it fits into what I do as an Engineer. For what it seems that; of what your not understanding of me is, my research has led me to believe that the Gen 4 (ST-215) engine has a 2 Bar sensor as opposed to a 3 Bar sensor. So now:

Sensor Relatively speaking Full scale spectrum

2 Bar 14.7 psi 29.4 psia = A meaning of no more than 14lbs of boost
3 Bar 29.4 psi 44.1 psia = A meaning of no more than 29lbs of boost

What your saying is I need a 3 bar sensor. I fully Understand that point. However as I have aforementioned, I've been told the sensor is 2 Bar (figuring 29.4 psia) on the ST-215 engine. Is that information wrong? The information also states this is absolute when referring to the scale.

As always Thanks...

I'm sorry, but the info you got was wrong. Do you still have the source of this info? I didn't want to offend you. I simply wanted to make this clear. Again, you need a 3bar MAP sensor. A gen 3 should work. But do not try to use some generic 3bar MAP sensor as the 0-5V scale might not be exactly the same as the ST215 one and this will make the ECU fuel calculation wrong.

Check on mr2oc or some other forums in the For Sell section, I've seen some used gen3 MAP sensor there.

NO SUCH THING at least when I looked . And trust me I searched hard. I'm sure they exists but perhaps not in English. besides any 3sgte manual pretty much does okay cross refreshing it with Toyodiy.com and the your original celica manual. what do you need it for?

Thanks for the help though!
do you know where i can find any of the 3sgte manuals?
