With 17mm socket and ratchet? I'm not sure what you're asking.

How to remove this? here are your options a) ball joint separator tool (fastest, easiest way i know of but costs ~$25) b) 2 or 3-jaw puller (3 jaw is easier to work with, costs ~$10) c) ball joint separator fork (costs ~$10 but will likely damage rubber boot in the process) and just fyi, there's already a how-to on this: How To Replace Wheel Bearing (Front) regarding the need for a press, either you buy one, or just go to a mechanic shop to do it for you. don't use a hammer. With 17mm socket and ratchet? I'm not sure what you're asking. Yeah they're 17mm. But I can't remove them. Used PB blaster but not better. How big of a ratchet are you using? Get a 1/2 inch ratchet with a breaker bar. -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq

Loosen the bolt if you can, then get a breaker bar between the joint and mount. Apply mallet.

Or..just don't remove it there.
Simply mark where the bolt is on the rod with some whiteout, then spin the guy off the rod. Screw taking that point off, its a pain. I always just break the hub loose with the 3 bolts on the bottom, axle removal of course. Then spin it off. Also, please get some zipties, or metal line to hang that caliper up to the spring. I see it sitting on the box, but you may hit the box, and have the bugger drop busting the break line. This post has been edited by rave2n: Nov 19, 2012 - 9:31 AM |

How big of a ratchet are you using? Get a 1/2 inch ratchet with a breaker bar. I don't have a breaker bar but I'll try my 1/2" lug wrench. Loosen the bolt if you can, then get a breaker bar between the joint and mount. Apply mallet. Yeah I have a mallet. I'll try a longer bar or wrench. Or..just don't remove it there. All you need is a pipe that slides over the ratchet for a breaker bar.
