i replaced my motor a year ago and my check engine light was on ever since, i replaced alot of parts and now the car is running good but the light is still on and it reads the egr. my question is if the motor was from an automatic trans, will that affect it? and can someone who has a 99 celica gt with a manual trans give me a code number?? thanks

Trans shouldn't affect an EGR code. Which code is it?

The transmission has nothing to do with the EGR. What year engine did you get when you replaced the original one?

i think it gave me code P0401... if not i will repost it. but at first it was bobbing and stalling so i switched out the vsv sensor and that solved the problem but still giving me the same code

might be clogged, mine was really bad in my ae86.i think you can check buy renting a vacuum gun at autozone, shoot some air on the top of the egr and if the idel doesnt change its clogged.have you tried resetting your code or unplugging your battery terminals to reset the code?

i cleaned the egr, still havent reset the code. and i did try shooting some air in it with a pump but nothing happened... i am guessing i need a new egr. can the egr b dead or bad besides being clogged?
