Finally scraped up enough money to get my Celica returned to its original beauty... Took a long time but the bodyman fixed every dent, ding, and rust spot. Cleaned the motor, tranny and under carriage. Even painted the interior dash trim to match the outside of the car.
The photos below are ones i took right after i picked her up. Btw, i also ordered Ichiba Wheel Spacers and am currently planning to sandblast those stock rims and have them powder coated. |

Finished the S54 swap 2 days ago, and finished putting the interior together today. Finally took it out for a drive This is the first stick I've ever driven for more then 5 minutes and I love it. Its really easy to drive. It is noticeably louder and vibrates more now but its not too bad. Its crazy how short the gears are though. I'm not used to doing 60 in 5th gear.
After I find my electrical problem (and WASH it) will post pictures cause I changed out the door panels and lights too. This post has been edited by travisxcore: Dec 8, 2012 - 8:36 PM |

I have a set of high beam rubber rings kicking around if you need them. They're not doing me any good at all, wasting storage space, cover shipping and they're yours. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. Congratulations. Was it hard? It was harder then it needed to be cause of the way I had the motor. But it wasn't bad. I had a very mechanically (albeit manly with Cobras) inclined bud helping me out. If you can improvise things on the spot and you literally have everything you need you should be good though. If you need any help (parts list, walkthrough, advice, ect.) I'll be glad to help though, its one of those things that is way easier the next time around. If you want PM me whenever you start and you can get my number so if you run into a quick bump you won't have to sit around and wait. Not too bad in idle, but horrific under a heavy load in the lower rpm range. Good news is, I'm hoping on cap and rotor cause I don't believe they've been changed...ever. Wires and plugs have 15kish miles on them. |

Bind with the mounts and whatnot. Sounds like you had the same help I'll have, although my friend has a Wrangler (and air tools!). I will take you up on that offer of emergency help, that is very gracious of you. Parts list I've got from the excellent people that have done the swap before me. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

Yea exactly. Air tools are a god send. Air gun, and air impact wrench saved us so much time. We used the dremel a couple of times. Grinder helped out a lot.
Good luck man! |

Today I cleaned out the tube that comes off the EGR tube and goes to the EGR modulator. Threw code 71, and everything else had checked out. Tube was completely clogged, and now pulses out air. Hopefully that does it. I did notice that while in the car the temp sensor has high resistance, around 90k. Which tells me the exhaust gas is around 120º. I know the EGR doesn't open up until you get moving down the road. Would anyone happen to know the resistance, or temperature, of the EGR sensor while idling at temperature?

I think it connects to the little thing that comes off the intake tube. It's a small black box |

It connects from the lower part of the block up to a little port on the air induction hose in '96+ cars; my 99 is Cali-spec and has the exact same hose.
