I take that back, my friend had a VW that was made in Mexico that constantly had problems. Not sure if the German made ones are any better though, one would hope so.

I wouldn't want a VW unless it is still under warranty or it was a project bug/ MKII GTI as a secondary vehicle

I love my MKIV TDI jetta, havent had to replace anything major yet just routine maintenance parts got the orginal shocks and brakes still on it at 185K. which need to be replaced soon i loved my celica but i love my tdi id gladly buy another of each given the chance.

I was actually building it for autocross, had just about everything you could do to the suspension except tubular control arms, for being a giant boat that weighed about 4000 lbs the thing actually handled very well! Never got a chance to race it though
