Hi,
I just bought a 1994 Celica ST liftback and as my luck would have it, just locked my keys in the car. I tried a slim jim and even tried wedging it, but didn't want to push it and shatter the window. Is there a better technique I can get in without calling a lock-out company/AAA? Thanks in advance.

Due to it having frameless door windows they're really easy to break into without shattering glass. Should be able to get it with a metal coat hanger by sliding it through the top or side of the glass.

yup, what he said, you can get in there because there's no frame.

if not, i've heard that old toyota keys can fit into each other's keyhole so if you got a 90s toyota key laying around you can try it. I've never tried but it's worth a shot.

Use a coathanger, make a hook on one end and the rest straight. Use it to pull the hatch/trunk lever by the drivers seat

pushing the lock button with a long piece of a considerably sturdy piece of wire...may I ask how this happened?

Thanks for all your help guys! I feel like such an idiot, but i'll try the coat hanger method first thing tomorrow.

Neon: It was an idiotic yet simple move on my part. I just got it home, and left the keys in the ignition while marveling at how great the car was. After taking it all in for a good hour, I locked it and went inside. It was at that VERY moment when I realized the key was still in the car. I know, scumbag brain...

This is why I keep a spare in a magnetic holder on the exterior of the vehicle. I cant tell you how many times its saved my life. Most people with 6gcs put it in the grill on the passengerside of the radiator. There is a small metal ledge that will keep it secure.

how did you lock it without the key?

At my job, a kollegue accidentaly took the key to his Avensis into the work car (HiAce) and he could turn the key, but not start it because it would not go the last bit where you turn the startermotor.
He called to the workshop and said the car would not start, and they asked: Do you have the right key? Do you have another Toyota?
He changed key, and it was fine.

Very easily, press the lock button as you're getting out.

my car has RFID locking system...I cant lock the keys in the car XD

I've been carrying a spare key in my wallet for years, but haven't needed it. Back in the late 70's, I was always locking my keys in the car. If you're younger, cars didn't chime when you left the keys in the ignition...or the headlights on, etc. I have left the headlights on in my 97 Celica, but they go off when the door is closed. This car is smarter than it looks.

I locked my keys in the car several times, almost always under the same circumstances in spring or fall.

Cold morning, wear a jacket. Drive somewhere, by which time it's warm enough that I don't need a jacket. Turn the car off, pocket the keys, and get out, while simultaneously locking the door. Decide to take off my jacket, toss it into the car, and close the door. Take two steps and curse.

The fun part was that I kept a key in my wallet in case I locked my keys in the car. Unfortunately, my wallet would invariably be in the breast pocket of my jacket, which was now locked inside my car along with my keys.

Oddly, haven't done repeated that mistake for several years now.

Alright, I wanted to update on how things went. After hours of wedging and fishing the coat hanger through it, I gave up. I called the dealership and they recommended the only logical advice: To come in with my VIN and they'll cut me another key!
After a trip there and 13 bucks later, it feels good to have access again. Thanks for all your advice guys. I'll be keeping a spare wired somewhere under the car from now on...

You should have the system in your car where it unlocks the doors if you go to lock them and your key is in the ignition

That doesn't help you if you take your keys out, put them down, (did something which required your hands free such as answer a call) and then get out.
