Thanks so much Manny for the quick replys, helps a ton knowing I can ask a question and not wait 2-3 days for a good solid answer. Since I dont have much more to do to the car I guess Ill post some "Finished" pictures. Pics inc. no problem man. funny thing, when i turboed, i used parts of YOUR post as a guide! i hope you have SOME kind of head sheilding over those oil lines near the block. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Yeah, well talking and doing are 2 very different things . Its easy to compile a parts list from several sites conpared to the actual act of installing the kit.
The heat shielding hasnt been done yet, Im either shielding the existing lines or replacing with SS lines. Just one of those things I keep outting off. I might have to get in there to tighten the canton fitting down more anyway. I think something might have a drip but considering the little bit of oil I spilled from the oil feed while priming (had to see the oil to be 100% sure it was flowing) it might just be left overs. If I have to go in after the fitting Ill just replace the lines while Im there. -------------------- Member of Team 5sfTe

To be honest I couldnt possibly remember and add all the costs up. Id say Ive spend very close to 3k in turbo parts + another 3k in the motor build/rebuild. Looking back now Id say a very reliable kit could be built with right around 2k for everything pre-tuning. I have done all work on my car minus the tranny swap back in 00 (was a auto) and the motor rebuild in 04.
The hood is beautiful when I wet it still. Its been threw alot, it was the first (first member on this site at least) CF hood for the 6th gen installed over 6 years ago. The milky look is from the clear coat/gel coat. Im working on how to fix it. So far restoring it has been a bit of a challange. Just a shot of the hood in its better years This post has been edited by 1bwilson: Oct 14, 2007 - 3:45 PM -------------------- Member of Team 5sfTe

Okay were up and running. With the blessing of Manny I went back to the 315's for a little while. Running the 460's I was just to rich and wanted to get some drive time in before the 460's and programer went in. Im not boosting anything then a slight tap on the gas for a max of 20-30 yards. I just want to be sure everything is in running order before I make a app with a shop for tuning and dyno time. I also have some old gas I have to burn threw before then. I can feel the turbo spool up and want to pull HARD even at stock boost. I cant wait to get everything in and turn the boost up more and see how hard it pulls.

I can swap a 5sfe head, build and install a turbo kit, relocate my battery and find a way to fit just about anything I need with the right tools.
. . . . . . . . . . BUT somehow I cant remember to tighten the k&n air filter and I ran the stupid thing over! hehe -------------------- Member of Team 5sfTe

Just a shot of the hood in its better years The best way to fix it is to wet sand it then a mild buff till it looks even in CC. then do a once over vith a scuff pad and clear coat it. Another mild wet sand/buffing, wax and enjoy. Wouldn't take long to do, just have to wait for the clear to dry. Mines looking the same, I wasn't a good care-taker of mine either... Nice job on the turbo project. This has really been making me rethink using a fe head instead of the ge head swap. Awesome job, can't wait to see the #'s This post has been edited by frosty: Oct 19, 2007 - 4:57 PM -------------------- CLOSED on 25 acres! -shop coming soon.... |

Thanks for the CF insite frosty, I still have my stock hood and a friend whos decent with clear coat so Ill have to start sanding it down.
Im hoping to find just where the FE head gives in, from there Ill let batman set the bar for how well the FE head can be modded for better flow and then I may consider a full standalone and GE head swap. -------------------- Member of Team 5sfTe

QUOTE(99GT @ Oct 26, 2007 - 7:27 AM) Updates?! Hehe none yet, I got my second filter in the other day but weve had 3 days straight of rain and I havent been able to get out and put it in. I have to lift the car up and install it from under the car, there just isnt enough room to do it from the bay and my car is way to low to just reach under and feed it up. Hopefully sunday will be better weather and Ill be able to burn some more gas. 1 good thing about the car sitting for a few days before the rain was I was able to watch under the car for any slow leaks and there were none. I really hate the idea of taking my car to a shop for tuning (Just to many people out there I know I cant trust) so Ive been really asking around for a good shop. Alot of them are 45 minutes to a hour away and I want to be certin the car will make the drive down. Id like to hit up a local shop, that way I could keep an eye out at them but nothing around here has a dyno and a good reputation. Im hoping to have a set time Im droping the car off by the end of the week next week. Figuring once everything is set and done, and I can drive the car it will snow hehe . -------------------- Member of Team 5sfTe

Heres a few more shots.
Took the CF hood off and put the stock one back on for the time being. 2 Shots to show exactly how low the car is sitting atm and the reason why I need a new suspension settup Finally 2 shots of how I ran my intake. New photo's are on photobucket, imagestation is about to shut down. This is my first post using their account so hopefully their not to big. Will be trying to move my image station links to photobucket ones so no shots are lost. -------------------- Member of Team 5sfTe

did you have that intake made or did you buy it somewhere? it looks like it would fit even with the battery in the bay.

Haha touche Manny, my neighbor is out of town this weekend and was suposed to weld it for me already. I cut the little pipe off my injen to weld on but it was aluminum and he had trouble getting it to take on the first intake. 6- I made it myself -------------------- Member of Team 5sfTe
