Hey all,
as some of you may know, shannon and jim (supershannon77) have a 3sgte swapped 6gc, that they bought from RJB on the forum.
They started off with a 91 auto GT, that they had a local shop install a "ebay special" turbo kit on. the shop installed the kit, and promptly blew the motor @ 5.5 psi.
shannon then had the shop source and install a 99 5s, and made ~147whp if I remember correctly, with the auto tranny, @ 5.5psi
They then blew said auto tranny. lol
So, IIRC, they sold the 5th gen to a friend, and bought RJBs car.
They have had a few problems with it, including a bad tranny, which Defgeph and I went down and replaced for them.
While i was down there, jims brother joe bought the old 5th gen back, with the blown tranny, and fresh 99 motor in it.
We disscussed diffrent options for it, including a manual tranny swap, but with the car having pre 93 electronics, and no knock sensor system, I convinced them the best thing to do would be to find a nice 6th gen chassis to swap the engine package into.
At that time, we also disscussed power goals, and to me, it seemed like Jim and Shannon were just looking for a streetable, everyday drivable car, with ~225 or so hp, to make the trip a bit more enjoyable wink.gif .
Where Joe, on the other had, is really looking to build a BEAST down the road, 350+whp ect.
Fast forward a few weeks, and browsing the FS section here on the board, I see a nice 95 with a blown motor. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=49717&hl=
Bing, Bang, Boom, Jim and Joe are on it, and go put a deposit on the car.
We set everything up, and a few weeks later, Jim, Shannon, and Joe, load the 5th gen INTO the back of a uhaul truck, put the 6th gen on a car hauler attached to the back of said uhaul, and drove them up here.
here are some pics and discriptions of whats gone on since.

With that done, the following morning we got right to work, and got the cars up and draining, and prepped to get the bad motor out:

Then we pulled the motor and tranny out of the 6th gen:

While we worked on that, Jeremey (alltracman78) had torn into the 5th gen:

We dropped the motor and tranny out the bottom:

The "Ebay Special" T3/4 57 trim, .50 A/R stamped on the housing. 150$ SHIPPED.

With both motors out, we started on getting things preped to go into the 6th gen.
Shannon had bought a walboro pump for the 5th gen, and had brought it over to the shop for them to install when they installed the turbo kit. this is what they got:

once the little things were taken care of, we mounted the resurfaced flywheel :

and mounted the centerforce "dual friction" clutch:

Once that was all set, we mounted the tranny and got it back on the hoist, ready to go back in the bay:

We gave the bay a super quick coat of black paint since theyre planning on painting the car another color down the road a bit:

the gauges:

With everything installed, we preped for the dyno

With a little bit of street driving, i slowly turned the boost up to 11psi, and man, it felt GOOD.

We hit the dyno anticipating good results, and to say the least, were MORE than happy!!

Heres theyre mod list, dyno sheet, and vid of the run:
Stock unopened 99 5sfe
460cc rx7 injectors
3sgte exhaust manifold
ebay manifold adapter
ebay T3/4 57trim .50 a/r
tial wastegate (5.5psi spring)
open dump tube
3" turbo back mandrel bent stainless exhaust
HUGE fmic
2.5" stainless piping
HKS SSQV BOV
2 bar map sensor
SAFC neo
oil filter relocation w/ 10an stainless braided lines and fittings

This run is @ 11psi, pump fuel (93 octane) VS my stock 5s run from back in the day (yes, this is on the same dynojet dyno):

yes, ladies and gentlemen, that is just about 240whp, and 270+ft lbs, at just 11 psi .
impressive, to say the least.

ohh, one more pic, i made them a custom intake.

you 5sfte guys, take note, THIS IS HOW YOU SHOULD BE RUNNING YOUR PCV LINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
from the valvec over to the intake, pre turbo, and the catch can would go inbetween, if you have one.
the PCV valve stays connected as normal.
if you look close, you can see the little nipple on the TB that the valve cover hose goes to, it isnt capped in this pic, but should be.

this car SMOKED like crazy before i installed this intake.
its GONE now.

hopfully within the next couple weeks, they will bring me up theyre body parts (404 sides, 404 rear, TRD wing and hiro front lip) and I will paint the car
as for color, I think it is going to be some form of black metallic.

nice manny. Do shannon and Jim still have the blue one with the hiro lip too?

also, what was the rough total cost of the build up??...it seems like it was a pretty good build and looks like a pretty solid setup with some good numbers behind it.

EDIT: Manny, whats wrong with Yellow Nology's?....i got yellow nology's on my car tongue.gif

i dont know exactly what they spent on parts for the 5th gen, but once the car got to me they spent another roughly 1100 on parts.
shannon or jim will have to total it all out for you guys.i know that with the cost of what the shop that did the work on the 5th gen cost them it was WAY too much total.

they still have the other car, joe actually owns this one, but will be basicly trading them straight up.

as for the nologys, lets just say i prefer OEM. wink.gif

im going back to stock + a bit better in a month or so. OEM TRD wires biggrin.gif ...im still trying to figure out if i want to turbo my car or just build up N/A power. Im just trying to figure out what would b the safer bet and what would cost less.

This is awesome! Everything sounds easy but this is hard work, and I'm sure you guys had fun doing this swap! Congratulations for another 5SFTE success! This is very inspiring to 5SFE owners like me. Hope one day I'll have the ability to follow this track.
