Thanks guys!
I have been trying to get a better picture of the car to make my new sig but all this damn rain is making it hard....but I'll def make it soon! I'm not a fan of my rims never liked them..I didnt pick them out they came with the the car so they are def something I am looking to update in the future! this will sound very gay since I am a girl but I also like having things a little different then Jims car...I think they are both very good looking cars but both done completly different or opposite in many ways. (Manny I think this is also the fact with your celica and Jenn's) so I can't wait to do a nice photoshoot with both mine and Jim's car bc I think it will be HOT! -------------------- |

Here is a little update with some questions.
First my little story the other day I was outside by myself doing something to my car maybe cleaning it or w/e so this group of young kins couldn't had been older then 5th grade 6th at max anyway they started asking me all these questions about my "race car" it was a really cool feeling having these kids ask me where my nos was and stuff like that so while talking to the group of kids the one kid falls off his scooter and the scooter hits my car leaving a few small scratches and a lil dent...I felt bad I was just like its alright just move back with the scooter. Now my nice new paint has some small scratches but its could be worse. Today I waxed my car to get ready for the meet and I think it came out pretty nice...When Manny sprayed my car I think he did a nicer job but for a free paint job I'm not complaining just up close you notice little things esp when its ur car. Ok so here is where the questions come in. I have an E153 with LSD that I will be putting in my car... what clutches would you suggest since this is a 5s with a e153 I kinda dont wanna start looking for the wrong thing...I have a centerforce at the moment and I know they make one for the 3sgte that holds more power do you think I can use that? I only ask this bc I really love the feel of the centerforce and would love to use that company again. Also should I be looking for a certain flywheel or anything. I think Manny and I talked about this recently but I kinda forgot all the details sorry. I wanted to do this trans swap b4 any other hp mods bc I'm a pretty small girl and not all that strong so 285whp for me is ALOT... it can be very hard to control at times...Anyway I thought about it and thought the best thing for me would to get LSD from there if the car is easier to control I can then think about power gains. thanks for your time guys and gals!!!:) -------------------- |

shannon, you'll need to get a LW flywheel with the elongated bolt holes for the 5s crank, and once you do that, you can get any 3s clutch setup you'd like.
lots of the mr2 guys are going with a CM setup that they say works very well, has good pedal feel and holds tons of power, but i cant say from experience. we know the ACT setup has a heavy pedal feel, as does the competition clutch i have from tweek. i would see what centerforce can offer you, holding wise, cause that clutch had great pedal feel, IMO. just wasnt up to the power you put down with that beast! cant wait to see the next round of upgrades for this car! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

that clutch you have in there now is REALLY light and not at all up to standard for your power level.
whatever you do, get at least some kind of 6 puck clutch. it felt really odd when i drove your car before, but thats probably because i havent driven a stock clutch in so long. i am more and more convinced that brand names dont mean jack when it comes to clutches. they are all pretty much made the same way. the only thing i have noticed is that ACT does take the time to beef up the metal that holds the springs in place ( a common failure point), and they do offer heavier pressure plates if needed (overkill for most of us). They also vary in how the center section of the clutch is connected to the friction part of the clutch. stay away from the ones that use rivets, as those seem to be a common failure point as well. Other than that, competition, clutch masters or even the super cheap f1 racing clutches on ebay look the same to me. Ill probably go with one of those ebay 6puck ones next time im getting ready to replace mine. I just dont see what the other companies are doing differently besides just marketing and a bunch of people saying this brand rules and that brand sucks. i've had one of those ebay clutches since I did my swap.
no issues other than a really crappy engagement: no play. I know people that have gotten the same clutch and done have my issue tho, may just be other factors, like size or my old cylinders. . . GL shopping -------------------- |

GL shopping what stage clutch did you buy? the crappy engagement probably has more to do with how high of a stage you bought then the brand of the clutch. The more power these things hold, the harder they engage. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

I have bought the F1 racing stage 3 clutch kit + lightweight flywheel like this one :
http://cgi.ebay.ca/F1-STAGE-3-CLUTCH-KIT-R...p3286.m20.l1116 I have nothing wrong to say about it : it holds my power (250whp for now, it's rated a 345bhp). The only thing is that engagement is more like ON/OFF... Stall, or do a burn out, no much play. It take some practice to feel confortable with it. But, as lagos said, maybe it's just the clutch design. The pedal is not too light, but it's ok for me, you can feel the engine a little more this way. You feel connected to the engine. Anyway, have a great shopping. Sam |

Yeah thats a sprung 6 puck. Same thing as my spec or any other brand 6 puck. It took like a month or two for mine to break in, but after that its perfect.

For a little while my car has been smoking and losing oil...We just really thought that the e-bay turbo gave out but before I ordered a new turbo Jim thought we might as well check compression...and I didn't think it would read like this....180 60 165 185 Now I am sitting and think about options I am gonna make a fs thread just to get some money to fix things so keep an eye out. P.S...the ebay turbo is still going strong I think it may just out live me -------------------- |

P.S...the ebay turbo is still going strong I think it may just out live me you should do a cylinder leak down test or a wet compression test to see if it's your piston rings or something else. It could be something as simple as valve seals. -------------------- 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |
