with your abilities, why didnt you clock the turbo down so you can avoid the pipe over the engine? cause there is no reliable way to mount the actuator, and there is only 1 more 90* bend this way..its worked this way for so long, i never even gave clocking the turbo a thought. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

a few pics of it all installed and ready for battle:
all buisness: driving the car around today, i didnt notice any added lag, or loss of response from the larger intercooler, which tells me the 2.25" piping if anything was too small. and MAN, i love these cams, the car just pulls right to redline, i did a nice 3rd- 5th gear pull on the highway, and the car just gets faster and faster. its awesome. i also did not have to adjust my boost controller up or down at all. im super happy with the round of upgrades i have done in the past few weeks, it really feels like a whole new car. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Thats a huge visual improvement from the last setup. Everything just looks nice and clean, and the intercooler fits well with the fogs. Props.

thanks all..art, whod a thunk almost 4 years later we'd still be going on with this thing?! Seriously, its incredible. The project more then surpassed expectations, and really opened up huge possibilities in our community. I remember when I owned that thing, I was hoping it would "last me a while", little did I know the life that motor was destined to lead. lol. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

ok guys.
after almost 4 years, just about 50,000 miles....i have become a victim of my own stupidity. after the cam install, i was trying to get a laptop to tune the car with, since mine had took a crap last year. my brother was supposed to let me borrow one, but the one he was going to let me borrow died as well, so i had been driving the car without adjusting the a/f ratio at all. last week, while driving to my sister in laws house, i blew a knock sensor while boosting, and have noticed a bunch more smoke than normal since. a quick compression test yesterday told me exactly what i didn't want to hear. 120-130-70-140. bad, bad, HORRIBLE, bad. once i got my hands on a laptop, it a became clear...who knew that 13.8:1 under full boost @ ~5krpm was bad for the motor??? strangely enough, the car still runs and drives great, has great vacuum (~-19-20) and is still faster than before the cams. I'm tempted to still go to the dyno, and finish the deal..lol i have a spare motor ill prolly be dropping in to run while i work on the 98 motor thats in the car now. from the ashes, will rise a Phoenix, i promise! cliff notes go somthing like this: dont add VE mods (like cams..lol) without tuning a boosted car!! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

oh no. btw, when is it smoking? only under boost, or all the time? it smokes mostly at idle, and under boost...although it does smoke a tiny bit pretty much all the time now. hot side piping is clean, and not much oil at all in the intake piping(no more than normal) -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
