sounds like hes gonna have to rebuild the motor.. (rings and such.) to get the compression back to normal and retune it.

do it! it should last a few more pulls. just drive it very conservatively on your way to the dyno and have a trailer ready just in case it blows on the dyno.

Dude - very sorry to hear that. Look at it this way tho bro - you already proved what can be done on a stock block - maybe this was the kick in the ass to build the block and get stupid with it?

got the motor ready to come out last night, its sitting on 2 mounts right now, im about to go out and put the 3s on a dolly so i can use the engine stand for the 5s.
with the help of a few of you, i smartend up and decided against dynoing this motor, but i WILL be dynoing dustins 5s, if for nothing else than to clean up the tune for his motor,..but no 15+psi runs..lol, i dont think that motor could take it, its got 160k on it. pics in a while. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

will you be putting the cams into dustin's 5s before the dyno? or are you going to leave the cams in the 98 engine?

6strings:
i will be installing the cams back into dustins motor. b-boy: agreed, it was definetly much faster than before, after tuning and driving shannons car, and jims, im guessing that it was easily all of 270whp, and at least 300+ftlbs. the thing pulled like a rocketship to redline..lol i didnt get nearly as much done as i wanted to yesterday, the baby kinda had a cranky day so i wasnt able to spend any real time in the garage. all i managed to do was get the 3s off the stand, and finish pulling the 5s. i want to get the 5s on a stand today, and start getting the turbo kit and stuff off. on a good note, at least i can finish painting my engine bay. lol -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

it looks like you pulled the power steering pump off with the engine. any reason you do that over leaving it on the car and not openeing the system?

PS fluid is cheap, easy to refill, and the banjo bolt crush washer is like 2$...lol i just hate messing with the PS in the car, im lazy like that. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
