I don't know if you mentioned this before, but are you using a 5SFE or a 3SGTE head gasket? which of the two is better?

Its a Cometic Steel Gasket for a 5sfe. Im using this as the water passages line up better than the 3sgte one to the block.

Oh right on. It's kind of like when you have a 1JZ-GTE and use the 2JZ-GTE block to up the displacement using the 1JZ headgasket for the same reason you stated above. Gotcha. Did you bore out the cylinders? Because I've only seen Cometic head gaskets for 88mm (+.040") bore.

I got a really interesting question. Which 3sge head can you put onto a 5sfe block? Not turbo but NA. Also, can the 3sge valve cover fit on the 5sfe?

If you're just swapping the valve covers, no (AFAIK)
The head will fit any block, it's a matter of having the right block which determines whether or not you'll have to drill out water jackets. This post has been edited by RichieRichJP: Nov 25, 2008 - 6:53 PM -------------------- |

valve covers are not interchangable. The 5sfe cover is held on with 4 big 30mm nuts on the spark plug tubes while the 3sge (if it's like the 3sgte) is held on with several screws around the edge.l

How much clearance is there between the top of your cylinder head to the firewall?
I'm trying to figure out which 2nd Gen 3S intake manifold will fit all clearances on my set up. Apparently they require about 2" over the stock manifold. I have about 8" from where the manifold bolts on (on the head) to the firewall. -------------------- |
