150 WHEEL HP? Thats like 180hp, i think ur getting Wheel and crank mixed up. 172 at the crank is feasible with the necessary components.

The 3sgte is is a bigger engine and 160 to the wheels is around 190 at the crank if not more. The 3s produces 200 at the crank.

No. 150wHP is more like 165-170 crank buddy. If you take a car to a dyno, it gives you "to the wheel" statistics, and i'm guessing the precise number 172 is a figure from a Dyno. A Celica GTS is rated 180 at the crank, stock it puts out 162wHP, just so you can see how close those actually are.

I've been a 7afte'er once, and as soon as i get the body work done i will be again. . . . .only thing time 10-15psi instead of 4psi.

I saw a rolla 7a with 8 or 9 PSI and an underdrive pully. He claimed dynoing 180ish at the wheels.

ive contemplated the 7a-fte route, and thats the exact thing i came up with.... so i came to the conclusion live with it being slow untill i get my next car, and just get a faster car next time...

Im gonna get forged pistons, rings, and rods and do an occational 100-shot. it will cost me around 1200 to do the whole thing... alot better than turbo for the $ if you ask me.

I've never seen any car lose ONLY 18hp to the wheels, buddy.
Thats VERY good...and very unlikely.

Drivetrain powerloss usually is between 15% - 25%, depending on the actual transmission, and whether or not its auto. The automatic trannys generally range from 20 - 25%. 180 at the crank and 162 to the wheels is roughly 9%.

forkee and zipstrips,

What all did you use for this swap, just a turbo, intercooler, and some custom piping?? I would love to do this, but what's the parts list? smile.gif

i actually read somewhere that the new gts only has like an 11% drivetrain loss.

when the torque converter on an auto tranny is locked, it is more efficient than a manual tranny, but locking up isnt a constant thing.

zipstrips made 172 whp and more torwque with a t3/t4 hybrid, fmic, NX ntercooler sprayer, greddy exhaust, EGR removed and Cat gutted at around 9-10psi, and he was even having problems on the dyno that day.

my car is an auto and with my setup(which i sold to forkee) i was running 7.5psi and fuel cutting becuase i didnt have enough check valves with a DSM side mount intercooler and ABS piping (forkee is fmic with metal piping)

under those conditions from 50mph to 110mph, i caught up to an RSX type S with exhaust, from what i could see, that cut me off and passed him with good speed.

once i got the kinks worked out i ran 8psi, and it hauled ass. i still had the factory cat and mid pipe then a 2.5 inch catback.

if i actually had a 2.5 inch midpipe and atleast a high flow cat, my spool time would have been cut by a good amount and high end power would have seen a good increase.

i would say i had a little more crank hp than a celica GTS, but i had a much much better powerband and boat loads more torque. GTS's were no problem for me as with integra GSR's, all model preludes and RSX S's. i had them on the launch, and i had them through shifts, and the only time my auto tranny held me back was when it had to downshift if i was going from a roll(not even half a second's delay)

also 97, what size piping did you have in the engine, running from the turbo to the intercooler back to the TB?

My turbo setup is lacking parts like a wastegate and intercooler, guages etc. little things like that so it only works sometimes and either boosts my car on occation or bogs it down. Nobody in my area will help me fix it and my engine needs re-sealing so I just took it off and it'll have to wait till later when I go back to the west coast. My car was dyno'ed and they didnt ever give me any results. But I dont think they were good and thats why. When it works I can beat a lot of cars off the line but when it doesnt, it feels like its gonna die. I cant change the timing on the car.

wait, wont your car over boost if you dont have a waste gate?

with no WG it will allow the exhaust to flow through the turbo and the port for the WG... also depends on turbine housing styles etc. but with no W/G it will kill your turbo id say within a week. theres many parts needed for a custom setup, i right now have taken about a 2min video of my setup before i took it off the other day. i would really like coomber to save it to the site, its no audio, just to the point of where the turbo sits, how i clocked it, following down my IC piping, where i cut to fit the pipe, and ran it to the TB. i also showed how my fuel regulator is hooked in, and how my map sensor check valves are in line.

frown.gif im gona miss the 7afte, it spooled up extremely fast and put a smile on my face everytime. hell it would spool up and be in boost in the blink of our eye on a launch, although it was also very streetable and only left me stranded once.

yes yes i would love to see video. or maybe a detailed map of the engine and all the places youd have to hook into. when i started the project I didnt know very much about it. My turbo was tested and still pushes the norm 5-7psi after 6 months.
