i got this email today

Greetings Nick, Jay and I have been test and tuning your car for the last few days, the power is right on target much and I mean much torque steering due to this kind of power, traction will be an issue. On Friday we did notice a strange idle charactor with a 3in drop in vacume, so we did a leak down and comp check, cyl #4 is giving us some concern, due to the investment and peace of mind we are going to remove the head and have a look, we will not charge for this but we must be sure we are not dealing with issues that could lead to major issues, I will need to have the cam card I gave you, I would like to know where these pistons came from and if they are forged or not. If they are not the quality that we use could we upgrade to some CP's?, we can have them cut to the size of the bore we have now and would just be slip in's, they are proven strong for this kind of power, we are more than willing to provide these at cost, and we would not charge any labor. This car is going to be very strong, we want to be sure its goning to last.
If you agree on the piston upgrade, that could be delt with later. Thanks, steve and Jason

4AGZE pistons are quite strong... but that depends on how much boost, what sort of efficiency and whatnot. There are varying stories as to whether or not the 4AGZE pistons are forged. In my opinion, and based on my experience... I DON'T believe they are. Why? Cause they hasve casting marks underneath the piston. I'm sure they are ceramic coated and are built very tough... but I don't think they are forged. Forged pistons in a stock engine that must pass all sorts of international emission standards just doesn't seem to pracitical from a business standpoint.

Personally,

I'll be very suprised if the problem is a piston. If yes , maybe they run to lean on the 4th injector (the lastest on the fuel rail). Do you run an egt (at the right place) to view the temperature ? You can run 15 lbs of boost with the gze pistons for sure .... Good luck.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
